my theory (and im a pre-undergraduate physics student - doing it next year) is that its just gravity. everything ive read suggests a minute force attracting the two plates, and that just screams out gravity to me. can someone point out where im wrong? ive been wondering about this for a while now..
...until, that is, you hover over the filename and find that its the animated adventure, and weighs in at a hefty ~900mb.
now, as cool as this is, i dont think some people will be too happy when they watch it for the first time:)
your a) point might be correct, but you must realise that not everyone comes from the same locale as you do, be it your state, or your country. many slashdotters are from outside the states. therefore, the price of movies does vary considerably from country to country.
if i look to my left, i see a poster on my wall from a national geographic, circa 1983, about the universe, and it states this very theory in its main text.
pirates are awesome! but not the computer software kind..they give the originals a bad name.
thou ive yet to see nerds go around yelling "arrr!"...ok, 2, but thats it, i swear.
my first thoughts on the matter

Stopping Light

i havent yet read the article, will do after this, but my first thoughts are that if they have stopped light altogether, or at least slowed it almost infintismally, they would have had to have slowed down time to achieve it...
or
if they have managed to somehow slow down light, have they also accidentally slowed down time? my 2c. now i will go read.
for example: my newest box (if you can really call it NEW:D) i have called OldYella. its a run down P.O.S., but i have to love it, its been with me forever.
interesting.
im currently reading the book (up to the 2nd book actually in FOTR actually!), and i regard it as the best book ive ever read so far. its interesting, never boring, keeps me involved - i look forward every day to coming home from work and getting stuck in.
i dont know if i want to see the movie now that ive read it, i fear it will never be as good.
according to quantum theory, the Quantum Holography hologram doesnt exist until its observed. but since its in a sealed container, it doesnt really exist at all!
...as funny as it is, its all made up. the cult of the dead cow are text file legends, my good friend steve says, from back in the bbs days, and they wrote the original. funny how it gets around thou. http://www.cdc.com i think.
sure, a couple of ounces of moderate-sized heatsink is fine. but im sure he was talking about those oversized ones that stick out a few inches from the cpu - it becomes more of a problem in proportion to how "tall" the sink is.
agreed. i dont really do much text editing, but when i do, its pico. i dont need functions and features that vi and emacs(..? havent puddled around with emacs much) have. so picos where its at. simple, elegant, rather like a good physics equation. beauty is sometimes better than features (as is seen in the standard model all too well.....)

i think he might have been referring to doom.
You just won't be able to use MHz to do any judging, no matter how approximate it may be
which is a damn good thing
sure hope our systems dont get overrun by the shivans when we start using subspace :/

my duron was purchased for around 250 bucks at the time...and that was a middle-end one!

and why was this post mod'd offtopic? its about as on topic as you can get.
its poetry man, not a major gaming event. recognition is all that matters.
or maybe you should relax your grip on life a little and laugh! its funny!

"...excuse me for being...a braindead open source chimp..." youre excused.
id be willing to fund your research into Harmon-Kardon condensate. lord knows we need higher quality sound-reinforcement materials!
