Hahaha, thats EXACTLY what I was thinking. That'll teach me to buy the Sims for my girlfriend last wee, now I can't get near my box to play urban terror! I knew I should have waited and got her the gamecube version...
Ohhh, you are SO wrong. I did some work for a friend here in Brisbane (for about 4 months)that runs a few very successful porn sites. What they used to do was buy bulk pictures with their rights from photographers in the ukraine, asia, etc. He employed me and another friend of ours to go through these photos looking for the quality shots as well as checking for doubles in the existing collection. We were averaging between us about 15000 pictures a day, and not all nice stuff. Some days it was straight porn, other days gay porn, some days animal, some days trannie, not cool. To this day, porn just does not work for me, it's like i've been desensitised. Even the real weird shit just looks like "people" to me now... There certainly is such a thing as too much porn, and believe me, you don't EVER wanna go there.
How do you work that out? The gamecube is out-selling the x-box worldwide and the Gameboy is the highest selling console in history, having sold more units than the PS1 & PS2 combined.
Technical problems on an un-modded unit? Unheard of.
Not unheard of at all. This article taks about the number of X-Boxes that have needed replacement due to their strange behaviour of scratching the discs inside. And any old forum you got to has heaps of complaints about dodgy hardware, intermittent problems and the like. I think you're just lucky to not have had any problems. Yet.
Dont forget that the TRIFORCE hardware is a joint efort between Namco, Nintendo and Sega. It's going to be pretty hard to compete with that, when it starts to show up in arcades. Namco and Sega developing exclusive titles for the arcade/gamecube? Yes please!!
What I though was interesting was the quote "Moreover, if Microsoft can get Sega to switch off its current Dreamcast-based arcade technology, dubbed Naomi, then it can lock up more exclusive titles that could be instantly converted to run on the Xbox." I don't know exactly how there going to convince Sega to do that, considering Sega has already signed with Nintendo and Namco to make the TRIFORCE arcade board which is currently in production and use around the world, with a stack of games written for it that will all be gamecube exclusive. Too late, Microsoft!
Take some advice...get your degree...then go work somewhere else, that way you don't even have to pay back your hecs.
Yeah, great logic. No wonder the tax is so high when you have to cover all the freeloaders as well. That's really dodgy logic, get your degree on the taxpayer's dollar, then piss off and never pay back the DEBT you incurred. Leech.
Yep, illegal in Australia too. It wouldn't be such a problem if the coppers didn't hide in ambush to bust you speeding in a 50km/hr zone. It's supposed to be illegal for them to hide, but they do it so I suppose it's only fair that we continue to warn each other with a flash of the headlights.
Informative? Fuck. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this post at all, but what a waste of mod points. There (I'd like to hope) will be some intelligent conversation made sooner or later on the subject and some moron has blown a mod point on this! I propose a time limit for modding, ie; comments can't be modded until either 200 comments and/or 1 hour has passed since the story was posted. It's pretty annoying to see any comment even remotely on-topic getting modded up simply because it beats the rest of the "fR1st P05Ter5!!!1!!" and AC drivel, but then when you come back to read the story later and you see there are a hell of a lot of great comments which have been left alone, you start to question the practice of giving mod points to any Tom, Dick or Harriet. Maybe you need (I don't know, um...) 20+? 30+? Karma to be eligible to mod other posts.
That's bullshit. I'm a 27 year old skateboarder who grew up watching Tony Hawk in the old Powell Peralta vids (Search for Animal Chin, Future Primitive, etc) along with other skaters my age. How do you work out that his appearance on the Simpsons was to appeal to children? Is it because the first you've heard of him was when the playstation game came out? (Again, a console aimed at the teenage to young adult market) That's a real stretch. The simpsons is also the most heavily televised show IN HISTORY. Just because it's on at 3:00 am in peru does that mean it's only aimed at meth-smoking nocturnal freaks?
Some of these drinks I'm reading about here are only pretty new in other countries. Here in Australia for instance, Dr Pepper has only been here for about 8 years and jolt for only 3 or 4. Mr Pibb, well, I don't even know what that is. One thing I do know however, is if you want the legal equivalent to getting all hepped-up-scarface-style, is to drink Australia's finest Bundaberg Rum with ice cold Jolt Cola for that authentic "reality travelling sideways through time" feeling. Be afraid.
Isn't that the point of the wacky domain names though? Like.biz for business sites and.sex for porn? I reckon it would have been great if these were more popular. That way you can very easily identify which sites are which. You would also be able to identify porn sites for filtering, if that's your bag. (And we could also keep most of our surfing exclusive to the.sex domain when the kiddies are asleep)
Yeah, but that is just a cover for this conspiracy. I was on one of these flights, and the captain announced:
"Uh, folks, we're experiencing some moderate Godzilla-related turbulence at
this time, so I'm going to go ahead and ask you to put your seatbelts back on.
When we get to 35 thousand feet, he usually does let go, so from there on out,
all we have to worry about is Mothra, and, uh, we do have reports he's tied up
with Gamera and Rodan at the present time. Thank you very much."
Phantasy Star Online for the GCN is due pretty soon (or out now, depending where you are) playable online straight out of the box with the included modem. Also Nintendo just bought a company that specialises in handling the infrastructure and writing netcode for this sort of thing, but for the life of me I just can't remember the name of the company to provide a link (sorry!). Nintendo official spokesmen have said they are definitely planning online franchises for the future, but in typical Nintendo style are giving no details. Current buzz is around possible planned titles such as: Mario Kart Online, Timesplitters 3, and the Pokemon franchise. It's kinda hard to find info on the GCN online stuff really, there is definitely a modem available, also a broadband adapter to be released soon (already available in Japan), now an infrastructure provider, but it sure is hush hush on the game front. But what else is new, hey?
Exactly. The band i'm involved with (check out the link under my name)decided early on in the piece to keep the money close to home. The band members and friends all threw in and we bought a second hand printing press (do all our own flyers and inserts, as well as make a bit of coin back doing work for friend's bands), a mass CD burner thingy that lets us press our own CD's, and screenprinting stuff (we can do all our own merchandise as well as custom stuff and screenprint CD graphics, as well as do a bit of work on the side for money).
Most of our sales are at live gigs, and we make a point of swapping a few CD's with every band we play with, adding their CD's to our stock on sale at the merch stand, with them doing the same for us at their shows. Most of our marketing is done online or through trading similar services with other bands. It's a little different, because the australian hardcore punk scene is a pretty close-knit family, but soon you work out that you can actually make money without being signed at all. The bands themselves are networking together to help each other out, no labels needed.
If you like Queens of the Stone Age, go listen to Kyuss. It's a couple of the members of QoTSA back when they used to play filthy hard desert rock. Jesus, did these guys know how to work their guitars. Much better than the pap they are playing now under their new guise. I strongly recommend the albums "Welcome to Sky Valley" and "Blues for the Red Sun" in that order, but avoid "Wretch" and "When the Circus Leaves Town".
I'm an aussie too, and I agree wholeheartedly. This is one of the reasons I keep reading slashdot because it seems that every time a civilian has his rights squashed in the USA, somebody tries to do the same thing here, but scarily with a LOT less coverage. At least I can see here what's planned for us in the next 12 months. It's sickening to have RIAA/MPAA policies forced on us here when they have absolutely no jurisdiction over anything but their own products. It's getting so hard to blame the industries involved and not have it spill over into a distaste for American people and culture generally. It's also sad to see fellow aussies talking about how americans suck because they want to bomb Iraq. The average American citizen is not responsible for half-assed decisions made by their president in the same way iraqi people aren't responsible for Saddam's whacked-out behaviour. Me, I love American people, I just wished their government actually listen to them but then again, the same thing could be said for most industrialised nations these days. Big Business is boss.
Yeah, I have an ASUS board that does the same thing. The problem is, I haven't had anything go wrong yet. In the case of an error, will the board say "Power on self test complete, Now loading from default operating system...oh by the way, your network card is fucked"? Inquiring minds need to know...
Hahaha, thats EXACTLY what I was thinking. That'll teach me to buy the Sims for my girlfriend last wee, now I can't get near my box to play urban terror! I knew I should have waited and got her the gamecube version...

I think you should read the article. "if Microsoft can get Sega to switch off its current Dreamcast-based arcade technology..." Note the big IF
It seems like we agree after all ;o) It's always the bloody arts students.

Wow, I haven't seen or thought of that comic for years, thanks!

Yeah, I'm in Brisbane and they are commonly advertised as 'region free'.
We're whalers on the moon, we carry a harpoon, but there ain't no whales so we tell tall tales, and sing a whaling tune...
Ahhh... too much effort. I just set it as my desktop...

Don't believe the lies!
