What would be really useful is if the software can "recognize" details about an image without a human doing so. E.g. Is a car, with red paint, certain model. Is a girl, white tshirt, nipples are showing, hair is in a bun, looks like a dancer, recognized as "this" individual, Then searchers can really search for images that fit patterns and find them.

I'm not an expert on this but it seems to me tat Chemical Rockets require more support and are more touchy than Jet Plans do they not? There's a lot of factors that make it expensive outside of the frequency of the flights. Can you have a potentially explosive rocket take off near a population center without risking lives? Airplans maneuver themselves whereas Rockets do not. I am of course thinking of the typical launch stage rocket so I might be stereotyping too much.

But in the meantime, find the fine balance between your "new" creativity in your field, and listening to the old hats who have been around and have a good understanding of the business. It's easy to be a hot shot and mouth off about how we should do things, but no one wants that attitude. On the other hand, they will look for some "stepping out" that shows you are using your brain and trying to do a good job.. Don't be afraid of asking advice of your boss, even HR if you need too when dealing with situations or if you are simply curious about how you are doing.. feedback is a positive thing and allows you to alter your performance (or decide everyone else is nuts :)

Makes it easier to knwo who you want to shake hands with and who you would rather not.. Maybe privacy is only an issue when some have it and some don't? But if no one has it, then, as long as you have nothing to be ashamed of (or simply don't care), you will have no issues, right?

To say one thing and then do another using difficult to see techniques is a poor and shady way to do business. So, no they do not get what they deserve.. They get a page that tells them they are going to be billed a small amount and then get billed a huge amount. If they were honest about it, they would detail in bullet points, very clearly, what the purchaser is signing up for.. I understand what you are saying, but I think we are talking about the same thing. I'm saying that the government and its rules and regulations are resulting in option #2 (as you listed it). Instead of real competition, it becomes who can do the job for less (not better), only allowing a few bidders, maybe having the process fixed because you are drinking buddies with the owner of a company, or get perks. My point is that the government is in control of the process and as a result true competition fails to materialize..

You mean the people of Virgina had a slew of technology companies competing for this business slot and had a choice? No, it came down to the state govt, a budget, polititians, and one or two "allowed" choices. If Northrop could make money by providing a backup, I think they would have done it. I think the state agency dropped the ball and said no backup needed. Free competition comes down to a number of candidates, all competing to outdo the other so they can make money. The best way to do that is to do the best job for the best price. That's why something "smells" here..

We are going to tax you because.. "blah blah blah blah". No one believes them because they will then turn around and "waste" money the next time. We fought the British off and then turned around and just did it to ourselves. If they are short of money, maybe they should get some higher education "smart" people from MIT to look at "innovative" ways to cut costs or do things "smarter" and "cheaper". Any corporation worth its salt has this approach and sells it to their employees as well as a corporate standard. Better faster cheaper. Instead we have the politicians (who are not living in a dingy one bedroom trying to get an education, maybe raising a kid or working 3 jobs) who keep the status quo the same year after year and show no innovation toward bettering the lives of the people. They stifle innovation and change just by their very existence.. Another example of government? The blinking yellow lights where you have to drop to 20 miles and hour during school hours. I drive a 30 minute commute and on that road, there are 3-4 areas like this. The problem though.. no kids! In the 3 years I've taken this route, I've yet to see any kids crossing the road at these locations. Yet every day, huge numbers of cars have to slow down, causing traffic congestion, wasting time, because some politician said "protect the kids, blah blah blah, do it for the kids". I'm not impressed.. we always go for bigger organizations instead of smaller ones that can do a better job in a localized area..
