FWIW i think that your motherboard utilties won't run becaues they're 16-bit apps. The 64-bit ports of Windows have silently dropped 16-bit support. Most people will never notice but there's a handful of legacy apps (like motherboard config apps and cheepo installer programs) that aren't going to work on 64-bit machines.
I agree that there are legit uses of cameras and microphones in flash apps. Video conferencing and video chat are big ones of course. However a user can adjust his or her Flash settings to allow all Flash applications access to the camera and microphone. This seems like a disaster waiting to happen. My question was more along the lines as to why Macromedea provides such a setting.
I've noticed for a while that Flash, by default, denies access to your camera and microphone. I'm wondering however, why there is even a setting for this. Who in the right mind would allow random Flash applications access to their camera and microphone? What use would this have?
Which of course is almost always the case...:( I've seen HT win only in very few cases. For most applications at work we end up disabling HT to improve performance...
You need DivX codec. You can download from Windows Media web site or simply go here: http://www.divxmovies.com/codec/. The download comes with the generic codec and a custom media player. Codecs are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Okay, if that doesn't work for you, how about i send you one of half dozen of 100/200/500/1000 MB hard drives lying around my apartment. You can put your.NET framework on its own drive! How convenient!
Let's average price of storage 1 GB ~ $1. So an extra 100 MB... Let's see that's some complicated math there so let's work it out 1 GB = 1000 MB and 100 MB is 1/10 of 1000 MB so 1/10 of $1 is... 10 cents! Okay, you don't have 10 cents? Why don't you send me your address and i'll mail you a dime...
It would seem that XP's slip is showing in the form of a feature sticking around from the code that MS ripped off from their involvement in the early development of OS/2. That feature was in every version of OS/2 that had a presentation manager.
The reason this is still there is that people have been using this to debug for a long time. There's no reason to add a new key stroke combination to stop the OS. It's like havint ctrl-c copy to the clip board in every program.
A patch? Its a Trojan Horse. You can't patch against this, there's no bug. If I gave you a binary that erases your hard drive... what the heck can the OS do to stop it?
A graduate degree (MS or PhD) in computer science is not just for acedemics and researchers. While, often it is not requied (though many times it is ) an advanced degree in computer science is a must have for high level positions in the industry (senior architects and the like). If you want to be the next cheif architect at SAP you'll be competing with others that have already been to graduate school.

I think you meant Septuple-A (Austro-Afro-Antarctico-AmerAsian Auto Association).
See American Graffiti.
You liked THX 1138?!?
In any case... you should check out American Graffiti. It's quite good.

I think you forgot about Metal Gear for NES. That game was fucking awsome.

FYI: 100 MB is not "HUGE". It's less then 1/2000th of the last HD I bought. What are you, living in 1999?
That's a good point. There's no reason a computer can't be on the internet and have no concept of a MAC...
I blieve that's "Danger Cart"
i would think then, if real programmers can't be bothered to get it right, then why would virus writers :)
I'm pretty sure that regular users can't write the "C:\program files" directory on Windows XP.

To err is human--i.e. it's a computer, it doesn't make mistakes.
