Linus attacking Microsoft Windows? It sounds a bit desperate. So, why will Linux's wireless support be better in 2008? Did something in the industry change? My wireless card from 2004 still doesn't work properly, I don't think support for it is going to be better in '08. Or is there a reason for those forward looking statements?
May be it's just a bad survey. How is it possible that 45% say system management prevent migration when all the platforms have management tools? The complete lack of application compatibility concerns makes me think this survey is bunk.
Ok, those virtual presentations by Hector (CEO of AMD) fails. Can't he be a bit more enthusiastic about the product line!? Another reason to never let a ceo talk to the public.
It's not just a perception, pro-linux people have been selling Linux by telling everyone it has better security. Just look at any 'top 10 list' or "Linux is better" lists and security is right up there.
I am guessing close to 33% of the respondents are writing server side apps from the response of "supports virtualization". If the poll question asked, "does your application support virtualization? Yes/No", only the the people who write server stuff will check yes since virtualizing client apps doesn't make sense. We can also infer that more devs are moving toward server based apps from the 42% stats. I think we are seeing the web 2.0 stuff hitting corporate development, and allowing traditional client apps to be ported to the server space. Just look at all the asp.net components that are now ajax ready.
There is a per user license for Ubuntu. It's called the GPL. You did agree to the GPL license in Ubuntu before you used Ubuntu right? If not, you are using it illegally.
I took physics III at the local university thinking of wanting to pursue medical physics. The class was great because of the professor, but condition of the department was terrible. The lab equipment is 20 years old, hasn't been maintained, and is in need of replacement. The department doesn't have money to purchase a peice of $300 dollar equipment!? The upkeep of the building was bad too. It smells like the bathrooms hasn't been cleaned properly. Something like that would never pass if it was the business department. Clearly something is wrong if physics can't even get money to meet basic needs like a clean bathroom...
Dell, if you tell us the checks you want to have made, we will write the software for you. I highly doubt you or any FOSS community member will be willing to do this (for free) especially when very few has even bought the machines. The Dell Resource CD that comes with every Dell clearly shows what checks are being done. They have been shipping that CD for years with Windows.
For any IT managers out there, the update client in Vista behaves differently from XP. Doing a manual update with Vista now respects GP, and will update from your WSUS server instead of from windowsupdate.
I am a Windows, but also want to buy a macbook. Should I wait until Leopard comes out? Does Apple give discount for the upgrade to people who buy very close to new releases of OS X?
Since all recent popular Linux distributions uses Gnome by default, does this really matter anymore?
Arm chair lawyer alert! Slashdot, where programmers become legal vigilantes.

Hum.. how much gas did you just waste doing all that?
There's never going to be a stable API nor ABI. Straight from Linus. http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0512.3/0980.html
Great, just add it to the long list: AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, skype, google talk, QQ, etc. Stop the madness developers!

Likely Yahoo bought them for the MAPI integration and the mobile sync.
Since a large percentage of email servers are linux, are you implying that linux email servers are bad to use?

Anyone who has played an RTS knows this...

FYI, The VS team recommends running elavated all the time.. aspx

I am guessing you don't use your own products... Admin privilege is the rule rather than the exception. See. http://blogs.msdn.com/kangsu/archive/2007/01/15/ru n-vs2005-as-administrator-on-vista-when-debugging. aspx
And I have to do this even with SP1, debuging a file based website. Not even IIS7.
Technology assistant sounds so much like 'administrative assistance'. I bet the pay is probably not too great.
Push it out via active directory. I did it with an startcom free ssl.
Start with -1 and count down. ;)

IPC_WAIT = WaitForSingleObject with a 1 millisec timeout?
