  1. Re:Another option? on Will Earth Expire By 2050? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Basically the artical overlooks the fact that as technology advances human ingenuity causes the amount of resources required to maintain a given lifestyle for a single individual to go down. Thus the population does not outstrip the resources available to it. But rather, simply makes more effecent use of them as needed.

After all, its going to be playing it through those little gameboy speakers. Not exactly stellar sound quality. They were designed to play the "beep beep" noises from video games, not high fedelity music. Its a cool idea, great for those who own a gameboy and don't want to shell out the $$$ for an mp3 player. But I think anyone who is really serious about listening to music on the go will pass this by.

...your PC will keep track of how you work, whom you talk to, what sites you look at, how you make documents and whom you share them with, which data on the network are yours...

Am I the only one who cringes at the thought of this? Who gets to look at that data? Surely it won't be kept private. Data like that is just too valuable for marketing divisions to ignore. I think there are some potentially serious privacy concerns here. Even if this data isn't shared with MS or whoever by default, given MS's track record on security I don't think it would take long before someone figured out how to get at it. Or heck, some 3rd party could just write some spyware designed to get it and transmit it somplace. This whole concept just makes me very uncomfortable.

Yep, those things rule. Heck I'm typing this post on one. I went and pulled it out of a pile of old computer parts at half price computers. It was mine for only $3. How somebody could sell such an awsome keyboard for such a small price is beyond me.

Serously, I love my IBM 370 and my fingers would have to fall off in order for me to switch to anything else. The IBM 370 was the origional awsome keyboard and its still the best IMHO. You just can't beat that tactile response and clickity-click noise. Heck you could beat somebody over the head with this thing and there skull would break before the keyboard did. And any keyboard that can be used to beat somebody to death without harming said keyboard gets an A+ in my book. Besides who in there right mind would spend $347 on a freaking keyboard. I might as well buy a new processor or graphics card instead.
