  1. I understand why the publishers -want- DRM, but why are they still surprised when it's cracked wide open? They always were, always will be.

  2. My Win7 has never made contact with Windows Update and never will. Still going fine.

What damage? Nobody outside of the far-right fringes gave a shit.

I need a phone, and don't want a flip phone. There's nothing silly with that, even the FBI director had tape over his laptop cameras.

... is for social networks like this to hide follower/fan counts. Show it only to the owner of the account, make the world a better place.

That, and adapting to the "logic" of many modern devices. What makes sense for a lot of younger people becomes a remarkably non-intuitive approach for people who grew up before television sets were available.

If you find yourself asking a bot "Hey, what should I do tomorrow?" I guess you're the perfect candidate for one of these things.

The last interaction I would want with a connected device is talk to it. I already patch my cameras (phone, laptop) with tape to avoid being snooped on, and at the risk of repeating what other commenters have said already, I have zero use for a surveillance and marketing device listening to me.
Shopping list? If it's really so long that I might forget something, use a pen and piece of paper.
Want to play music? Well, load up the playlist "manually", it will take a whole lot of 3 seconds.
Whatever the fuck else people use these for, I've never heard one example that didn't make me go "Why?".

The only people I knew that used the site were other video editors and content creators that heavily relied on it for all our music sourcing. It's a shame, you can find hours and hours of great music just for listening enjoyment, too.

Jesus christ, I'm gonna be downloading as much stuff as I can... this was my main music source for videos. This is a huge loss, the FMA is a godsend for a lot of indie production of all types.

I'm not sure what planet you're smoking on to believe that politicians are acting upon climate change, but those "old models" were far more optimistic for the future and politics didn't bat an eye. It's pretty reasonable to expect that we don't know shit about how all of these factors affect one another, and I'm not the least bit surprised that we are still grossly understating the consequences ahead. Good on you for not blaming Obama for this somehow.
