In most places they have laws against not paying attention while drive. Negligence behind the wheel is not a charge you want.
Either way, if you kill someone because you you where typing that Bobby was DUI after he was AAK and you professed that you DUNA but then you saw someone and said DURS and tried to give her DWPKOTL all while driving 120km/hr you will most likely be charged.
No need for new laws just charge people with the existing ones. Then someone will text you WTFGDA.
Really, anyone who "Downloaded" the beta will have an internet connection. You can disconnect if you still use dialup or satellite after it validates you. So a few kb of data. It lets you install to as many computers as you want too.
Look at how many people use steam. It does a lot more than validate an account and people love it. It is also better than an activation based system where you get X installs and that is it. Again, this lets you play it anywhere.
You can use mdac to create an excel sheet and both update and query it. It is running under Vista and you can do this in c# which is free like you don't have to pay for it if you own Vista. It can be done from pretty much an script host too. MS has examples, but it is pretty much just an ADO connection.
You see it all goes back to Trudeau and that darn Charter of Rights and Freedom's. It keeps stomping laws like this. And the great thing about the charter is that it really really hard to change.
So, step one, find clauses in new law that are contrary to the charter. Step two, bye-bye new law.
Or better yet, it is a minority Government. Try getting one of the other party's to agree.
So, last time I looked the American dollar was number 4 on the list next to Canada, Euro, and Pound at number 1. So I guess they won't be selling any up here at a 50% penalty for shipping an extra 100km. Right now 1 Canadian dollar is worth 1.026 american.
I guess companies still like to think that the US dollar is worth twice as much.
I like that, its cute. Makes me think, if a tree fell on the moon and everyone was there would you hear it. Forgetting about how the tree got on the moon in the first place and how the people are there too.
Write a book on how to use household chemicals to learn chemistry. I am pretty sure that in the US their 1st amendment covers this as long as it doesn' t describe stuff like killing people and bomb building(leads to killing people sometimes)
Diesel fuel and nitrogen based fertilizers (dried urine) seem to work for all those crazies to blow stuff up. Maybe they will ban peeing on the farm too?
We use them here and they work great. You put an X in the circle of who you want to vote for. Very simple and they work well. No screens to navigate and completely verifiable.
Just another reason why these "less than lethal" weapons are bad. They give an expectation that the target will not be harmed. However, if the officers had to pull their guns they would have had to think about the consequences.
Or buy a filtering water bottle that costs $40CDN and use an antiviral if you are really worried about the water. But, for the most part they work very well. They use activated charcoal filters.
I know this may not be popular but... Are software patents really the problem or is the process that grants lousy patents the problem. It seems like that if you are against software patents you must be against patents in order for it to make sense and I understand that. However, if you are not against patents in general, why are software patents any different from mechanical ones.
Now, the process that have been granting stupid patents (One click anyone) is broken. But how is One click even in the same league as say RSA was way back.
Apparently the Germans bombed Perl Harbor? At least that's what the article said. I know that the Japanese allied with them to get some oil in WWII but I do not remember reading about 109's or Heinkels over Perl Harbor.
It is illegal for Canadian political parties and their members to accept donations greater than a $1000CDN. Also, they must be from individuals. Yes, you could try and get a whole family to each donate a grand each but that is still on average $4200(two parents and two point two children). And that has been done. But nothing I would call huge.
Still, she has been very pro Big Media in her speeches.
Look at the cell phone market. Java is everywhere, your blackberry, nokia, and even many windows mobile devices run midlets (Java applets for phones). It is a huge market, much bigger than the internet. More people have cell phones than have computers.
I thought this battle over Mac PPC hardware being light years faster than Intel hardware was over when Mac started using Intel. Now they can run Vista in a virtual machine when most people would be happy to be able to run in on a real machine without it chugging.
We should now all go out and buy a Mac.
Seriously, they do mac some pretty cool hardware, buy one. you won't regret it.

This is assuming that the caller id is not faked and is correct. Nothing like getting the call from the Caribean with a local area code.
They where paid and Rockstar owns code.

This sounds remarkably like DOS. With the virus scanner in Hyperspace it sounds like DOS with Windows 3, just more advanced.

I think it will need more cow bell. Give it more cow bell.

That's a double plus plus way to make people safer.
... "Then you have the Slashdot brain. Never click on anything and lots of activity"
Copy it and send it to yourself by registered mail and don't open it.
All this will do is catch the little guy. The pro's and geeks will just remove the water marks or not use their product.
