Story's been up for awhile. Hasn't anyone posted a reply?
If not, FP. Suck my troll!
It must be good for many toy stores, although usually the spams I get try to sell you sometihng intangible. Hrm, I've never gotten a spam for an RC car. Someone forward one to me.
... right. So, you paid how much? and how much is that in american dollars? and how much is the difference between that and the CD's we can buy here "on sale"?
And yes, I can find the US on a map. I can also find yours. And pretty much any country you name, provided it's not something obscure like Andorra or Lichtenstein.
If people are required to buy overpriced CDR's, then why is the Canadian government subsidising the makers of copyright protection systems? It's too damned expensive to make copies of CD's up there anyway. If you're discouraged already, why discourage them again with these senseless copyright protection systems?
I hope Canada will at least execute the copy-protection scheme cleaner than they have in the US.
You can get XP Pro (OEM though, but hey, it's cheap) for about $85 nowadays. It comes with a liscence and a manual with a serial # on it, so it's all legit. You still save $215.
See, the reason the Xbox is so awesome at fill rates and AA is that it's running at way below standard useable resolutions. I'm talking 480x320, and that's not exactly a lot of pixels. Hell, you can get by on a cheap card at friggin low resolution, but you lose a lot. I find myself shooting at elevators and such in Unreal Tournament on my four-year-old iMac because I can't tell the difference between them and people. You must realize that there is a resolution cap on the XBox, and the video card in it is acceptable at that resolution. Those of us running UT 2003 at 1600x1200 with 4x AA and high detail, on the other hand, aren't using the XBox.
Well, the only problem is, TV ads are unavoidable. I mean, you can get up or change the channel, but while you're watching that one channel, you can't click out or close the ad, you're stuck with it. Plus, they get gajillions of dollars per ad, because they make a million impressions. You, on the other hand, might make 15 thousand impressions (if your network is accessed heavily), which, at the current going rate, is about, what, 15 dollars? I don't think it's a very viable solution, but if it's just supposed to be something on the side, it might become self-sufficient and maybe turn a profit if it contained more local ad content.
Personally, I'm betting that it'll be the new.09 (Or is it.06?) micron fab IBM just built that'll produce the next generation of Apple chip.
Yes, there's a new chip coming. I mean, what designer would put DDR-333 in a machine that can only do a 133 MHz FSB? The only thing is, IBM won't be makiing the next generation chip. They're too tight-fisted to license (sp?) Altivec, The Velocity Engine, etc etc from Motorola, and they're simply plodding along and making really friggin fast (and high quality) G3's to show off at the next microprocessor shebang. Unfortunately for all of us Mac owners, Motorola's going to make the next processor, which means high priced upgrades, high priced computers, and slower clock speed. Since Motorola makes other comsumer electronics goodies, they've got no incentive to increase the clock speed. I mean, you only need so much computing power to watch a DVD or listen to a CD. Once they get past that threshold (and they already have, which would explain the big slowdown in clock frequency around '97-'98), they don't have a big business need to produce faster and more resillient PPC-74xx chips for us poor Mac-using folk, because we're simply not their main consumer.
Well, I bought my Tibook when the TiBooks first came out, and I have one thing to say: GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I've done some pretty bad things (read:accidentally broke open the LCD screen with a 40 lbs rock(don't ask)) to it, and Apple's done everything to rectify the situation.
of COURSE they're ramping up for new processors. I mean, they'll eventually get the new G4/G5 that actually SUPPORTS the ram, but for now they're making the groundwork needed for the newer processors.
If I may do a bit of rumourmongering, I'd like to say that we may expect a quad-processor G5, but with the G5 running at, say, 800 MHz. I mean, we may not have superhigh frequencies on our processors (or multiplier values such as 21.5), but you can make sure we'll have the most processors we can get in there!

I'm sorry, this is Slashdot, where even Stupidshit like this is posted daily. So, if you have a problem with Stupid Shit, then I suggest you move to a more wholesome website.
I found it rather ironic that Mediafour was there with their Windows iPod software, whilst Apple was making big inroads into their area of the market. Will Apple make Windows users use iTunes and make mediafour's creation incompatible? What with the whole 10.2 upgrade and.Mac thing going on, you figure that Apple would want them not to use 3rd party products to sync their iPods.
Let me clarify that: If someone wanted to run this free utility, then they could buy a mac and then set it up to run the server. Giving away free code is not a profitable business model, so they're enticing broadcasters to switch by making it only available for Mac. If they made it for PC and GNU/Linux, then they would have no additional sales potential.
Well, since the ocean derives its blueness from the sky, I think that this award is, in fact, appropriate.
Just look out at the ocean on a cloudy day and tell me how blue it is.
Ah, thanks.
Yuck. Stupid XP likes to reload from cache.
Bloody XP.

Of course, you don't see poor Somali children running the world, now do you?
Yes, I mean, if they're going to do something like that, I could just say "i'll do it" and run something useful, like Seti@Home in its place.
The sad part is, I know at least 20 people that would keep it on for ambiance in their home.
...just call it Soviet Russia.
In Soviet Russia, rooms serve YOU!

Won't somebody PLEASE think of the slot-loading drives!?
I know many of our drives would get trashed with those bumps. Mine's already humming on uneven discs.
D'oh. /me slaps himself around with a large trout

Um, what else would you buy a mac for?
I mean, OS X has to play a part in there somewhere.
That's odd, I plugged my sidewinder into my gameport on my brand-spanking-new motherboard.
Get your facts right. We like our legacy stuff.
Down with firewire and up with parallel! RS-232! GAMEPORT! PS/2!
Better hope there aren't any bugs in that unpatchable game you have there, buddy.

Let's spew some random hatred! Someone mentioned Apple!
/*end rant*/
Are you KIDDING? That's a Weebl and Bob quote!
