Maybe you haven't bought a CD-R lately.. but they are expensive.. like 30 cents each or something like that.. plus the cost of shipping. Not to mention the sticker with the serial#.. adding that together they must be losing money big time
The only comment I would make on the Gmail account is that it's hard to list the size of emails and attachments. Ya, I find this to be a small problem too. The only thing I can think of with the current setup is to do a search for any email with an attachment, then mouseover the attachment icon to display the filename. Not a great solution, but meh.
Sure space is a big issue with the 2mb hotmail accounts, but I think my biggest problem with their service is speed. Even on a broadband connection, the pages usually load very very slowly. This was the main reason that I switched to gmail--it just loads faster. And to top it off, gmail offers 4*250mb plus features like conversations and a good quick spell checker. For me to switch back now, it will take a lot of *new* features on hotmail's service.
Well, this kid might not have the knowledge to help the network that much, but I'm sure a experienced hacker could do the job a bit better.
Sure, it's a pretty big thing, but that doesn't stop people from cracking into the network or social engineering attacks from happening. Nothing is invulnerable. So should we just stop trying to protect ourselves all together? Isn't it worth it to do our best and be able to stop at least the small annoying threats from disrupting business?
doing so would be like hiring serial-killing doctor Well, if he's good with a knife..
Honestly though, if a hacker has payed his debt to society and now wants to help businesses prevent what he was doing(Kevin Mitnick), why not let them? Having the most knowledgeable person for the job might just save you from being hacked by someone else--as long as you can trust the person.
I didn't see any specifics in the article, so I was wondering if anyone knows how fast the Dual-core Athlon 64's and Opteron's will be running? Has there been any clue's? I'm just wondering how long my processor will seem fast for, lol..
Item listing before posting on slashdot. Starting bid: US $379.99 Number of bids: 0 Hits: MPCR receivers are going for almost $400 on ebay.. wouldn't that only be true if there were any bids?
nah... all you gotta do is fall asleep during the lecture, then when you get back home play the tape at double speed... save ya plenty of time.. or something.. heh
If you have high end flashy electronic devices to bring to class, don't brag about them being big time expensive, and hold on to them. Don't leave them on a bench in the library while you go look for books, keep them in your backpack and cary that around with you. If someone wants to give you trouble, and try to take your stuff from you just contact campus police--they should be easy to find(lots of schools have blue light thingys that will call them). Better to call campus police and look like a dork than lose a $3k laptop;)
I'm sure many people will say this, but how secure can this be? Using email to vote? Heh, what if the enemy intercepts the emails and finds out that the soldiers want a new leader, how would this make them look?
My laptop runs cool, except for the left palm rest, where the hard drive is inside the case. After a few hours of gaming, it can be VERY hot. Would better lube allow for portable drives to run cooler?
Shouldn't it be a lot larger number? I mean, I'm glad that they are trying to stop this stuff, but please. Make a big impact showing how much we hate spammers, and maybe, just maybe, it will scare a bunch and lower our spam in our inboxes.
Sure they don't like Nazi stuff, etc, but please, can you really ban that sort of material without banning countless other things? Free speach needs to be protected online.
If they feel this strong about Yahoo's sales items, why not just ban Yahoo in France(like China does with a ton of sites) until, if ever, they feel the need to remove the content.
Making 5,000 mistakes in research is one thing, but try making 5,000 mistakes while running a public company. I think the key is learning why what you did failed instead of just trying it agian right away.
There's an interesting effect here that I've noticed over the years -- smart people don't make the same mistake twice while REALLY SMART people don't make the same mistake three times. Since they tend to make fewer mistakes to start with, really smart people tend to repeat the mistakes they do make because they are initially convinced that the outcome was someone else's fault or perhaps because of cosmic rays.
I think it really holds true. Maybe really smart high level execs need more really smart high level people to help look over their mistakes privately so this doesnt happen as much.
From what I remember about that article, Gates said he would buy Nintendo if he had the chance--a way of complementing them. Microsoft doesn't think they have a chance at buying Nintendo, and Nintendo has said that they don't want to be sold.
LOL.. although according to the bank of canada, $40CDN=$30.86US as of noon today. Canadian $ has been making a comeback--time to go shopping in the states!

Well.. not to say anything bad about the quality of the site.. but.. they have Moby as a featured artist. Man that guy is scary.
"he suffers from Parkinson's disease, diabetes and lung fibrosis as well as recently diagnosed Alzheimer's disease"
I wish him the best health possible for his life.

Heh, why not just use email like the article earlier today?
I'm supprised they aren't looking for more jewlers after making P Diddy a diamond iPod.. damn

This could lead to downloading mp3's before they have been recorded.. try to stop that RIAA bastards!

You're too kind
