"I myself hate it when people assume lower class (income-wise) people, or people who haven't got degrees, are somehow less intelligent."
I hear ya. At my previous job, they busted my chops about not having a degree. Nobody stopped to think that when you're an artist, your work matters more than what a piece of paper hanging on the wall says about you.
"I apologise for my previous post - I misunderstood where you were coming from."
I really appreciate that. Seriously, very classy. Have a good weekend.:)
"why won't voters see this and say: hey bush had his chance and now has been proven to have failed in getting the guy that was the largest threat against america?"
Who says they're not saying that? Half the country doesn't want Bush in office. A significant chunk them are thinking "err okay, but what's Kerry going to do besides tell me what I want to hear?"
To put it another way: The problem isn't that everybody's an idiot, the problem is that neither candidate is ideal.
"(BTW - Normally a fan of your comments NanoGator, but when they defend Bush... not so much)"
That was less about defending Bush (I'm not a Bush supporter) and more about my own insecurities. I am not an eloquent speaker. A lot of people would hear me speak and think I'm missing a chunk of grey matter. It is a bad way to measure somebody's mental health, and Bush has taken an unfair beating on it.
I'm replying not because Bush is under fire, but because I can't stand when a person's entire intelligence is estimated by their grade in English Class.
A LOT of people have purchased Playstations (1 and 2) that have failed within a year. I know from first hand experience, I used to sell the stupid things.
For Halloween..

... i'm going to dress up as somebody who complains on the internet about Enterprise's theme song. Problem is, I don't know how to dress like a virgin.
"That doesn't explain why we have a Republican president who is by most standards considered mentally challenged."
Most standards? Please. Your 'most standards' is really one standard about how he talks. "Ha! he said internets! Giggle giggle snort what a retard! I'm going to go on Slashdot and complain about it!"
"Whoda thunk that it'd be more expensive to entirely change your infrastructure from Windows to Linux than it would be to simply upgrade to a new version of Windows?????"
Well, given that Linux is 'free'....
I guess the thought that there's a point to be made here is a little elusive.
"Instead its brilliance was sacrificed in order to be a trojan for the X-box platform. after which 2 of the lamest ports i've seen left Halo a smoking pile of shit on the platform it was oringinally intended for."
Alternatively, it became a must-have XBOX title where it reached a much wider audience than it possibly could have, even on the PC.
"Video games are not just about making huge profits. It could be considered an artform."
Though I agree that games could be an artform (I've seen a few Flash games that could be qualified that way...) it just isn't a medium a lot of people take. I think the reason for that has to do with how much more complex a game is to make than a song, an image, or a movie. Programming is tough. It's hard for an artist to pick it up. (I speak from experience, here.) There was no moral obligation for Halo to be made for Mac. There was, however, an obligation to make sure the employees and the investors were paid. The original version had the potential to make for a better product, but how good is it to make a better product that's reach is limited?
I'm not bagging on Halo here. It's just a tough reality that making a successful game is very hard. Moving it to the XBOX guaranteed it a huge audience. More people benefitted from it. Now, Bungie not only has the money to make a sequal, but they can also take on future projects without having to be as concerned about it.
That sort of make sense? I'm not saying you're wrong to grumble, but I do think a broader perspective would be beneficial to your feelings here.
"Faith about your skills and will to do things you require, young jedi. Do not let the dark side of profit descend upon you!"
Heh. It takes $$$ to run a webserver. Even not for profit still needs revenue.
"it's a shame you can't just go and create your own website that meets your demanding personal requirements...
oh wait, you can."
Out of curiosity, how does one go about doing that and supporting it without some sort of ad revenue coming in?
"Server? What use is a desktop environment on a server?"
So you can administer it without having to memorize a bunch of badly spelt commands?
Perfect? No. Handy? Oh yes. At least if implemented correctly...
"On the keypad there is only A, B, C, and D, what about the rest? How do you type on this?"
More importantly, did they get copy/paste to work?
"I myself hate it when people assume lower class (income-wise) people, or people who haven't got degrees, are somehow less intelligent."

You know you don't have to buy it, right?

a.) It's not NVidia's fault you'd have to buy a new mobo.
b.) if you really need the performance that bad, you'll be hard pressed to spend 2x on the card and find a >75% faster card that uses only one slot.
c.) It's optional, not expected.
"Its not about the money, its the princpal of the thing."
Then why isn't Sony in Slashdot's cross-hairs?
"I don't know if i'd consider a pop-up "nothing useful" when talking about porn..."
Well, I guess that's a matter of personal taste... can't say pics of pop-ups are that big over here.
"Red vs. blue and Homestar are all the TV the internet needs."
Why would you be a proponent of only 2 shows? If the president's on, you're screwed!!

"Oh, quiet you...it was funny...sort of...well not really but you know what I mean?"
It was funny like a year ago. Now it's as overused as an SNL skit.
"A few more years of advances like this and we might have a machine capable of running Longhorn!"
A few more years of computer advances and this joke will still be modded funny!

So... you didn't look at it?
... somebody will get modded up for making an 'insightful' point about how impractical it is for whatever oversimplified reason.
Depends on how ya look at it. ;)
"I mean really, what the fuck is that supposed to mean? I don't go around killing people just because I can."
Would you go around killing people if you couldn't?
"This marathon of slightly-better-than-the-last game boys"
What exactly is your definition of slightly?
"[Halo] should have been a Mac game from day 1."
Why? So only a few people could play it? Damn them for making Halo attractive to a wider audience!
