Really people. Government / Insurance / whomever watching your every move really shouldn't be a problem unless you are trying to cover something up. For me, I don't like the firewall at work. But that is becuase they track my web surfing, and I'm on slash dot a lot. But in a car? Well, if the accident was my fault, I'll take responsibility. One good (moral) part was that it promoted self-responsibility, which I think the world as a whole has forgotton.

First we lost manufacturing/labor type jobs to the cheap labor in other countries. Now we are loosing skilled technical jobs to cheap labor in other countries. Who will be next? Blue collar work? Managers? The US is known for it's corporations, but it won't be long till the only US citizen employees of those corporations will be the top dogs making millions while the rest of us work at McDonalds for 8.50/hour.

To go with the off topic post: I'm all for public transportation, taxes in congested areas, etc... but at least here in the US, it has a long way to go. I could take the bus from my neighborhood to work, but it would take me 2 hours to make the 20 minute trip. Aside from the other issue that the bus only goes twice a day.

This means that if we keep importing work from India, India will become more wealthy, and if you can believe it, your neighborhood will become *LESS* wealthy.

As for the PocketPC / iPaq stuff... I used one for about a week. It certainly had some nice features, but all in all, none of it was really that cool unless you had 802.11b. At which point, you could just as easily get a laptop for the price.

My prediction: Palm + Cell / Java will be one platform.
PocketPC will go away and super small, full feature laptop pc's will be the new thing.
