As I said in another comment, slackware users don't want a packaging system for every day use. We like to compile things, and tweak them for our own uses.
The packaging system is really used only for install time, and sometimes security updates.
Slackware is for people who enjoy compiling everything and optimizing it for their machine.
And it does it well. Slackware users don't want a packaging system for everyday use.
As far as time line, its a tad long, but again, slackware users stay on top of things and its not a big deal. Patrick never rushes releases. The result is a rock-solid base.
I'm a slackware whore. I sure wish someone would update slackware.com once in a while, pretty sad that some other site has news on this before there's a peep of it on slackware's own web site.
The court also has barred the defendant from participating in advertising affiliate programs on the Internet, and has ordered him to give up more than $1.8 million in ill-gotten gains.
People like this will always keep doing shit like this as long as there are enough morons out there to manage to give this dude $1.8 million.
I don't know why the company would pick a name like Lindows, though. Thats like those movies that are hyped up as "If you liked X you're gonna love Y." Or "The best ___ since X."
Which is exactly the kind of things lame MS consumers will fall for, and increasingly, linux consumers.
While emergency vehicles are supposed to be exempt from paying fines, even ambulance drivers and fire trucks get tickets. (The Washington Times recently reported that a raft of tickets earned by D.C. police has actually slowed their response time on calls.)
Try to tell us one more time this is about public saftey. I dare you.
My parents are annoyed by call waiting and so I still get busy signals.
Again this harms no one, easy to get away from: don't use the phone.
My wife is annoyed by cell phones.
Because of the RF? Or otherwise?
The difference between all those others and cell phones is they are nearly impossible to get away from. The "don't use it" doesn't help in this case, when you don't want to be bombarded by 800-930 MHz shit, you can stop using them and still be bombarded. I view this as an invasion on my health.
If you don't like cell phones, then go find somewhere that doesn't have them.
This is a very unreasonable request.
And it isn't just cell phones, its any unnatural electromagnetic wave. I doubt you can find anywhere on the earth now where you would be 100% free from unnatural EM waves.
This actually should be modded up, and marked as funny.
And I say that as a slackware user.
Nice.
Fully agree. I like being the person the few linux people at work come to. For the same reasons you stated.
Have you used both slackware and gentoo? I'd be curious to know your opinions, as I'm a slackware user myself.
As I said in another comment, slackware users don't want a packaging system for every day use. We like to compile things, and tweak them for our own uses.
Slackware gives us exactly what we want.

Where'd you find it? email me if you don't want the entire world to know.

I've used 8.1-beta2 at work, I love it.
You'd think I'd change it, since I already knew heh. I'll do that after this post. HONESTLY!
(offtopic!)

Come on people, wake up.
Unless the agreement I assume UK Tivo owners have to agree to for service covers this, isn't this some form of invasion of privacy?
Oh wait. I forgot, that's all gone in the UK.

This is great news. Not really a big victory but, it makes me feel a little better.
We spoke with tech coordinators from 25 large Oregon and Washington school districts being audited by Microsoft for software licensing compliance.
Evil.
Sheesh, every time they get a good chance (and yes you have to wait a LONG time when you get legal system + MS), the states back out.
Damn pansies!
I agree. Just add a few other ports such as 443 and what not, and they'll be doing what they need.

Natural would be what is and has been coming from the Earth, sun, solar system, galaxy, ...
Unnatural would be any of our creations.
Compare the height of a commercial broadcasting station's tower to that of a cellular tower.
People are worried because of the word "microwave". A mobile phone cannot produce any great amount of RF heating, for a few simple reasons.
Nonsense or not, that isn't the point. If I don't want to be bombarded by this shit 24 hours a day, I shouldn't have to.
My great-grandfather was annoyed by cars.
He could easily get away from them.
My grandfather was annoyed by the TV.
Very easy to get away from.
My parents are annoyed by call waiting and so I still get busy signals.

And just moving away is an unreasonable request.
Really is a shitty situation for folks like me.

Whiners. If the EULA is THAT bad, take the damn thing back to the store. Can't live without the program? Then shut up and accept it.
It really is that black and white: Agree and use it ; Don't agree, don't use it.
The end.
I'm so sick of hearing about this.
I live in Michigan.
That's so very true, she rocks.
She ESPECIALLY likes going after telemarketers who call you back, after you've told them to add you to their 'do not call' (DNC) list.
I'm curious.
1) What Distro, if any?
2) Gui? If so, which WM / Desktop env?
3) Anything else unique?
