    Have you used both slackware and gentoo? I'd be curious to know your opinions, as I'm a slackware user myself.

    As I said in another comment, slackware users don't want a packaging system for every day use. We like to compile things, and tweak them for our own uses.

    Slackware gives us exactly what we want.

    The packaging system is really used only for install time, and sometimes security updates.

    Slackware is for people who enjoy compiling everything and optimizing it for their machine.

    And it does it well. Slackware users don't want a packaging system for everyday use.

    As far as time line, its a tad long, but again, slackware users stay on top of things and its not a big deal. Patrick never rushes releases. The result is a rock-solid base.

    I'm a slackware whore. I sure wish someone would update slackware.com once in a while, pretty sad that some other site has news on this before there's a peep of it on slackware's own web site.

    I've used 8.1-beta2 at work, I love it.

    I don't know why the company would pick a name like Lindows, though. Thats like those movies that are hyped up as "If you liked X you're gonna love Y." Or "The best ___ since X."

    While emergency vehicles are supposed to be exempt from paying fines, even ambulance drivers and fire trucks get tickets. (The Washington Times recently reported that a raft of tickets earned by D.C. police has actually slowed their response time on calls.)

    People are worried because of the word "microwave". A mobile phone cannot produce any great amount of RF heating, for a few simple reasons.

    Nonsense or not, that isn't the point. If I don't want to be bombarded by this shit 24 hours a day, I shouldn't have to.

    My great-grandfather was annoyed by cars.

    He could easily get away from them.

    My grandfather was annoyed by the TV.

    Very easy to get away from.

    My parents are annoyed by call waiting and so I still get busy signals.

    Again this harms no one, easy to get away from: don't use the phone.

    My wife is annoyed by cell phones.

    Because of the RF? Or otherwise?

    The difference between all those others and cell phones is they are nearly impossible to get away from. The "don't use it" doesn't help in this case, when you don't want to be bombarded by 800-930 MHz shit, you can stop using them and still be bombarded. I view this as an invasion on my health.

    And just moving away is an unreasonable request.

    Really is a shitty situation for folks like me.

    If you don't like cell phones, then go find somewhere that doesn't have them.

    This is a very unreasonable request.

    And it isn't just cell phones, its any unnatural electromagnetic wave. I doubt you can find anywhere on the earth now where you would be 100% free from unnatural EM waves.
