Hey! Someone needs to call PETA, Microsoft and the City of New York are abusing butterflies!
A single summons was issued, with a $50 penalty, though each butterfly could have been subject to a $50 fine, said Tom Cocola, the assistant commissioner for public affairs at the transportation agency. He said the city's chief goal was seeing to it that the decals are removed.
This is highly disturbing. What is it with this international law bullshit? Google is BASED IN THE UNITED STATES, would someon care to explain to me why the HELL they have to listen to some other countries laws, laws which they had NO SAY IN?
It seems that such laws go one direction: Enforcement. Is there some way to fight them? This is absoloutly rediculous.
The very idea of someone having to follow a law they had ZERO SAY IN is violation of human rights as far as I'm concerned.
What can be done? This sort of thing MUST be stopped.

Whoever Made This Possible - THANK YOU!

This is the BEST free software news i've heard in two years. This is fantastic!
I made a few simple scenes long ago, but i had a problem with it being closed source and only outputting munged.avi motion renders.
I was just looking at my scene files yesterday, very interesting timing.
I can't wait, hopefully multithreading / SMP support will be added some day:)
So, who made this possible? They deserve major kudos from all of us.
Outside the Board of Foreign Trade where the negotiation was held, dozens of college students protested against the U.S. demand, shouting ``Knowledge can't be monopolised.''
``Why should we be blamed for pursuing knowledge?'' a student protester said on television.
This is really great to hear. It sounds very much like the common call in the USA of "Information wants to be free".
It's nice to know that such different cultures at their cores still value the same things.
I've been a slackware user for 5 years. Only slackware. No other distro.
Then I tried Gentoo recently. It's everything I wanted. the Ultimate power of customization (save LFS), everything from source, etc. The speed difference IS noticeable in every app, as long as you have a clue about optimization flags for your CPU.
The only real problem is that two things are essential:
1) Moderately fast system 2) Fair connection to the ineternet
I have dial up at home, so I brough my system to work and installed there. Ever since, I haven't had to download too many huge ebuilds (packages) over dial up. Things are good.
I'd imagine their copy protection scheme will be *hell* on people with epilepsy. I have done work in offices that had lighting offensive to sensitive people and can just imagine what these theaters will do for an entire audience.
I don't have epilepsy, but I am very sensitive to fluttering lights or the such. Even flourescent tube lights running at the normal 60 Hz irritates me greatly.
If I go into a theater and this bugs me, I will demand my money back. This is rediculous.
"I currently have a rather large digital music collection. It is all in mp3 or ogg format and it is all from CDs that I personally own or have borrowed from friends.
Yyyeah, righto mate. Nice legal disclaimer!
Example: papasmurf.c is only for educational purposes! Use at your own risk!:)
I wonder if certain organizations will have web site access problems this week...
the cable industry, which sells Internet access to most Americans...
Try again.
Not exactly the way I like to see an article start off.

Poor things.

Easy whoring while helping people, what a combo :)
Karma whoring is cool! But this really serves a purpose.

Not responding, however here is the google cache.
I heard this on shortwave, the station as a whole is pretty good.
You can find the various schedules including shortwave here, just keep in mind shortwave times are UTC/GMT/ZULU.
The #1 problem with this mod, cheating, wasn't mentioned anywhere.
This would be a bigger game if that was fixed, personally I have zero intrest in it because I constantly hear those who play bitching about cheating.
Too bad.
HAH good job!
This definately needs added as a comment on the main story.

If colleges bind together and work with each other, RIAA and MPAA will certainly not be able to shove them around.
Let's see which ones have backbones and which ones do not, this may get interesting.
My feelings for MS are widely know, but for once I'm not trying to troll.
Given the facts, how is this news?
In my eyes, it isn't.
What WOULD be news would be "secure xbox cracked after exhaustive 6 month effort by 3 teams of 1200 people".
Agreed?
Those url's have an extra space in them. I'm sure you people will figure out what to do.
I don't think this is big enough for EFF but...
Perhaps a legal fund of some sort could be set up. It'll certainly get 20 bucks from me.
Of course, this is only a suggestion.

Big surprise....

Wow... We use CVS at work and certainly haven't felt it isn't "industrial enough" to handle what we're after. Quite the opposite in fact.
Indeed, AOL/TW feels the same. Mozilla is maintained with CVS.
The same for Sun, OpenOffice is maintained with CVS.
These guys are putting their own foot up their own ass all over the place.
Some of us could make it appear on giFT, no idea who those people possibly could be though.
