That would be good, but it's a long ways off. Fortunately most ac to dc conversion is now done with much more efficient switching power supplies instead of the linear wall-warts that everything used to use.

That's true. I don't run 10 mi every day, but at least once a week (6 mi or so the other days). After a winter of running, I started hiking again in the spring and was winded like none other in a short amount of time. Surprising since I only run off-road and on trials.
I don't steam everything, but I don't hoard everything either. I'm having trouble filling up a 4tb drive that I have plugged into my router. I just don't care enough to have everything in digital format. I still own plenty of CDs and DVDs/Blue-Ray.
As for 4k..it's about as exciting as day-old bread.
I haven't been pulled over in at least ten years, but there is no way that I am every handing over my smartphone to an officer, or anyone else for that matter.
