After getting a new work laptop and having to have windows on it. I have to say I am missing my linux laptop.
Linux is not far from being usable as a stupid user replacement.
The software I have had the most problems replacing is amaroK.
Apart from not liking coming back up from an S3 suspend it had every feature I wanted in a music player. And nothing else comes remotely close.
Everything for windows is trying to be a clone for a commercial app.
What linux needs is to provide the features that users want. The features that us IT guys want will always be there, there is plenty of us out there writing what we need. But we need to supply what stupid users want that is what will get linux mainstream acceptance. Ubuntu has gone a long way in that direction, but as always more needs to be done.
The former U.S. Vice President said his personal cause is to change the public's mind about "this planet crisis" to make it a top priority. The term "crisis" in Chinese is represented by two symbols together, he advised.
"The first means danger...the second means opportunity," Gore said.
Why add another layer in.
Windows Forms is a Wrapper around win32 calls why make it wrapper around gtk or qt or anything. Wrap the bare bones xlib and be done with it.
I totally agree.
I cannot count the times when I've said to someone
"Can you come and look at this for me. I've been sitting here for hours and can't find a.... Nah dont worry found it".
I dont see what your problem is with the installer.
I Installed potato triple booting with Win2K and Win98 from the NT boot loader with fully functional X and development tools in like an hour
I would much rather a person call it 'the box' rather than CPU. The CPU is in 'the box' along with 'the hard drive', 'the CD drive','the video card', 'the memory' and much other paraphernalia.
The box is much better because thats what it is.
Solid

Don't shower at home. Get your fat arse some exercise at the uni gym and then shower there.
Then again he was talking about music not a rhythm track with a voiceover

So you're going to let a member of the most non ethical society known in the world to have a copy of you're password. Good Move.

I'd prefer to be ABLE to call the office. It's a bit hard when you're dead. Same case both ways.
Correction: "I can't survive without beer and meat." Don't drink water, fish screw in it and bread is made of the stuff that food eats.
