I really think Pawnshops ought to do a better job of protecting their clients. After all, if you put a sign on your shop that says "WE PAY CASH FOR GOLD AND ELECTRONICS", you are really advertising your store as a front for burglers. The sign might as well say "ROB YOUR NEIGHBORS AND SELL THEIR STUFF HERE. WE WON'T TELL".
The true irony is that all the little shmucks that are getting their personal info stolen installed the software originally just so they could steal music.
"Anyone who denies the possibility of an intelligent force (not necessarily humanoid!) inhabiting Mars is living in a dreamworld."
If there is an "intelligent force" on Mars they don't seem to do very much. But of course they're humanoid, just with funny bumps on their heads.
"But they decided the computers of the day weren't powerful enough to handle that much Sim3D"
My impression is that they were just incapable of writing a usable 3D engine. Anyone who tried Sim Copter or Streets of Sim City would know this is true. Maybe with the success of The Sims they can afford to hire coders with experience in this area.
Anyway, didn't SC3K just come out last year? My "Computer of the Day" back then was plenty powerful enough for 3D. It still is.
"The point of the XBOX is to allow Microsoft to break into the home entertainment industry."
Absolutely. Ultimately MS will have a monopoly on game boxes. They can afford to GIVE the damned things away for as long as it takes to force Sony and Nintendo out of the market.
I don't need to mention what will happen to the price once they actually HAVE this monopoly.
So what we're looking for, then, is a device that emits light in many different wavelengths and in all directions.
Do I see any light bulbs appearing over people's heads right now?

HMMM...I use VMS every day. It's nice to know I'm obscure.
We got Tang. Isn't that more than enough?
I love 'em - oh, you said "FreeDOS".

What is really sick is not even being able to understand why someone wouldn't do this.
Does the laser really do anything but heat up the "propellant"? Why not just burn it? - Oh, wait, that's a jet.

MP3 players let you play the music you steal via the internet without all that silly file-conversion.
The MDI is addicting. Try it...
The main benefit would be that electronica would become almost inaudible and we wouldn't have to hear it anymore.

My old Hoover is just about falling apart.
The last thing I want is to be in the office when everyone is yakking at their computers all day.
And she's a Salmon!!
How about BeOS for Linux for Windows?
