Banners don't make the web work; people do. If the people don't want to see flash, pop-ups, pop-unders, redirects or take overs then they will speak; and spoken they (and I) have. Regardless of any flaws in any browser the general public has HAD to revert to SpyBot, updates, AdAware and other similar programs to detect and remove the viscious shit that happens on the web un-intentionally due to advertising.....and at the end of the day spam, banners and all the forementioned are exactly that; advertising. The penis enlargers, penis enhancers and redirects to Walmart or 'Mary's Kitchen Cafe' are all on the same level. In response to your comment about 'targeted' that's the other half of the problem. Most of these re-directs usually try to collect some information about you and your surf habits so it's not always the case where 'I need money to support my site' rather than 'I don't care who collects information about the people who visit my site'. Web developers need to know WHO they're selling advertising space to and WHAT information they're trying to collect. It's a three way street between the web designer, their money base and the surfers they want to visit their site; not on how much information either can collect. THAT'S what makes the internet a worthwhile experience.
One side of this debate I often found interesting was from my wife; a devout Catholic....what makes us NOT believe that God created evolution? He had to start somewhere and he apparently has plenty of time!
No offense but nobody can FORCE you to buy music you don't like. I, for one, have had a personal ban on buying CD's for the last 3 years. Besides, I truly like the 80's music and most of my casettes are still in pretty good shape!
However even in Pred 2 Danny is handed an 18th century gun by the 'lead' pred implying that the preds have not visited earth for at least a century. Alas we know the Arnie saga but the premis is still there.
If you've been an avid fan of the movies, books, comics and games (like me), the title fits perfectly. All who are in this 'circle' refer to it as AvP and I believe this is the market they are catering to.
The key word here is 'intentionally'. I really don't believe that any reasonable person would use any of your examples as a legitimate weapon, however let's call a spade a spade; guns were and are designed to kill. A crowbar or butcher knife have other design INTENTS, but can be used as weapons; yes. Besides target shooting (which represents a minute fraction of the legal gun buying community) a gun is designed to effectively kill something; whether it's human or not. Either way, I disagree with your argument on 'guns are deterrence' claim.
Wow....now we're really into brainwashing. I NEVER thought of myself as a 'hippy extremist' but now that we have corp USA sending out letters I'm not so sure. What do you do when a company does this crap? How do you effectively counter this propaganda? Since nothing has seemed to work thusfar, I'm actually scared. Will I be next? Will they target my children? Will they target my grandchildren? Maybe the only way for them to win is to have everyone commit suicide; then they can say..."See...we won!"....at least that way no one will be around to buy their product.
I like the idea but it also involves the likes of Symantec and McAfee. I would be just as happy without virii searching out my PC for weaknesses than spend the extra time and money to protect against them. I don't LIKE giving Symantec techs a paycheck but I certainly wouldn't surf without it; kinda like health insurance...it sucks but you gotta have it.
Since when has music dominated our lives so freely and when, exactly, did this music uprising happen? Granted, I'm older, however I do remember the days where if you liked the music you purchased the 8 tracks / LP and moved on (am I showing my age?). If not, you taped it off the radio and the world still turned. Since when did P Diddy, Puff Daddy and Brittany Spears make SO much difference in the copyright arena? Metallica, please.....stop! I'm not ignorant enough to believe that the artists themselves cause all this havoc, but they DO sign with the execs that cause it. PEOPLE.....IT'S ONLY MUSIC....it is NOT the end all to society! The apocalypse will NOT occur tomorrow if of all of a sudden there were no music! I say let the RIAA play their game to it's futile end; the less attention they get (with underlying support for indies) will kill them in the long run. I still want to reiterate though, "IT'S ONLY MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!" It should not be so pervasive in our everyday lives.
"...they need bug reports." Like when I get that little message from MS that asks me if I want to send an error report? Sorry, no troll intended, that just popped into my head when I read the last statement of your post!
I think it's unfair to the spammers. If all you had to do was stick a toothpick in the end of your penis for $.02, they would miss out on their $19.95 sale. Yes, I know it would hurt, but probably less than the amount of spam that enters my inbox each day advertising the damn things.
'ya know.....I have to agree. If you're constructing the world's largest building, why not go the extra mile (or feet) to add 10 more stories? Obviously they need the extra space anyway since they're building the damn thing.

Until I get red and yellow flashes on my monitor so often it gives me a seizure....
And we ALL base our knowledge of the science world on laws interpreted by the US Supreme court, right?

How did this thread go from spam to sex to parasites.......oh, wait

I don't want even that,,,,,I know what my upgrade options are.

Since when did ANYONE in Pakistan have personal rights? They're not exactly a democracy 'ya know.

Wow...if you're actually complaining about owning a '93 Fiesta, the quality problems with it AND calling it a chick-mobile, you must be a geek!

Wow.....how nice of them to let me use something I purchased the way I want to.....I guess in the EULA it states that they're REALLY nice people too.
I'm sorry to say it, but we ALL deal with lawyers in some form; day in and day out. Isn't that pathetic?

SOME Windows users don't use it because it's what they're 'fed', they use it because it runs the applications/games they want.

No troll intended, but 'spit an elephant'? Now THAT'S a new one!

I knew the explanation would come down to a bad design feature! Thank you for your comment!
You should have kept the receipt they emailed back to you...now you can buy direct from Taiwan! It worked for me!!
I'm not trying to troll and maybe I'm showing a little ignorance but is IE a higher level app than an OS?
