I carry a similar train of thought. I fuck with shit all day at work (as a net/sys admin drone) and when I come home, I certainly don't want to fuck with more stuff.
However, UNIX is my bread and butter and I prefer a UNIX environment. Bam! Apple walks onto the scene with perhaps the best GUI (imho) on top of a UNIX environment. I'm in love.

Oh the horror! I hear they eat little children, too! I can't believe this troll post gets moderated up. Ph wait, it's slashdot, the land of the sky is falling.
Because the GPL contract is bigger than the mess in Iraq.
You must live in a sheltered world if you actually believe this. I'd say war is bigger, and that when it comes to war, silly little software copyright laws are the last thing on the list.
The world does not center around the GPL, Linux, or even computers, hard as it is to believe.
It means that they've BUMPed up the speed again. Perhaps getting a life or some other hobbies might help you out here.
I'd hate to hear what you think when you hear "driveway" or "parkway". I can imagine tons of little children being crushed under the tires of your car, because you're so stupid you take everything literally.
I place spammers right below murderers and birthday party clowns, but aren't these sentences a bit overkill?
Sometimes I wonder if the prison overcrowding problems aren't because they toss out 5 year sentences like candy to spammers (soon), hackers, and people who get caught with a single joint. Meanwhile the cliche of "rapist out in 3 years" continues to remain valid.
Is it all becoming about profits?
WASTE is GPL, set in stone.

I'm not a lawyer, and I don't use the dumb geek acronyms to shorten that phrase down, but:
The WASTE software and source code was posted on the Nullsoft website by a Nullsoft employee who's always posting software to the site, who happens to also be the author of WASTE.
Let me repeat: an officer of the company and the author of the software made this software available under the GPL on the company website.
This seems open and shut to me: it's still GPL'd software. Sure the employee may have acted against the wishes of his gods, but its too late, it was released by the author, on the company website.
This would set a dangerous precedence if this were successfully challenged in court. Any company could virtually release a product under the GPL and later revoke it at their whim, claiming its unauthorized and that everyone must destroy their copies.
Sorry, but I've found that model eventually fails... por at least provides for really crappy service. I'd much rather be required to dump a yearly fee into something, so at least to know it'll be around for a while. As I'm told SpyMac doesn't offer IMAP or anything of the sort, backing up my email would probably be an interesting perl script to write.
It's running Windows (looks like Windows 2000). I don't see anything UNIX-ish about the desktops, but I can sure as hell make out the blue gradient title bars in the pictures.
Windows doesn't take ages to boot, troll. Not since 95/98 several years ago. Windows XP probably boots as fast or faster than most Linux distributions. It boots quicker in fact, because it loads stuff in parallel, not one after the other.
Real men rought it and only keep one set of meta keys active on his keyboard. On mine, the CTRL keys won. Thusly, all the other meta keys are disabled.
I need the CTRL key when browsing the web with netcat.
I'm no Microsoft basher, but I'd love to hear their explanation for such a mood change after attacking open source, and specifically, the GPL so harshly.
They should at least have the decency to explain why they think their old views are wrong.
What's all the netpoll stuff for in the changelog?
Sure I could Google for it, but that would require my hands leaving the keyboard in order to use the mouse. And then I'd have to move the mouse cursor to the top of the screen.
I've never EVER had a PHB who didn't understand that UNIX was a leading class/enterprise-ready/solid/stable platform. What crack-smoking companies do you work for? UNIX invented the enterprise network OS.
The speed of Java, the intuitiveness and simplicity of Windows, the sanity of SkyOS all in one product!

You must feel like quite the man. Oh those little people!

Use a spell checker before ranting about dumb people, next time.

Ugh, do you think we could get a warning next time? Looking at Milton's camel toe was not the thing I needed to see this morning.

First they laugh at you... check!
I guess all those universities using Linux clusters are a figment of our imaginations.
What's the mathematical symbol for steroids and how would you represent it in your equation?
I thought Slashdot went Slaschdaut on me for a second, there.
Are you THAT fucking stupid? How long have you been a "network administrator"? Which part of Google and basic documentation do you not understand?
Just so that this isnt a total flame:
* Ethereal, Windows/UNIX, free
* tcpdump, UNIX, free
* Etherpeek, Windows/Mac, $$$
Actually it's a pretty good implementation. Far better than any pseudo-alpha blending most Linux packages have.
I don't know why you would say it was sad, other than being a troll.
Right, because none of the reasons could possibly be that the music the industry is releasing these days is mostly impotent and complete shit.
and they've had it since Windows 2000, sorry.

Yea, THERE'S a reputable organization reknown for their datacenters, data integrity, and long-term stayability.
How long will this service last at SpyMac? A month?

Linux on the other hand...
