Am I the only one that thinks as evil as Drunk Driving is (I nearly lost my sister to a Drunk Driver) we are giving away too many civil liberties over it?
No, you're not the only one. And to return to the topic of laws and there being too many of them... why do we need separate offenses to cover all these "risk" situations anyway? Just have one offense: reckless driving. Doesn't matter if you're drunk, tired, angry, distracted, senile, having sex or yammering on a cell phone... if you are observed driving recklessly, or cause an accident thereby, you get the reckless driving punishment, which should be harsh for ALL such offenders, not just the drunk drivers. The offense ought to be the recklessness, not the alleged "cause" of the recklessness. Attempts to legislate behavior like that, it's like micromanaging people's lives, and leads to unnecessary intrusions like roadblocks, breath tests etc.
It is a dangerous world. No amount of laws will make it safe.
The Hobbit, and Silmarillion is going to be filmed if LotR succeeds.
The Hobbit will probably get done, but the film rights to The Silmarillion were never sold, and might never be sold. (In fact, I saw a link there on theonering.net the other day about a musical adaptation of The Silmarillion being cancelled due to "copyright issues".)
I don't think Christopher Tolkien will sell those rights.
I found this howto through google. It shows you step by step how to set up OSX to use a different partition for swaping. I've never used it myself so I can't comment either way.
Some of us techs were talking to an Apple rep the other day, and we asked specifically about this procedure. We were told that extensive testing by Apple had determined that there is NO advantage to having a separate swap partition for OS X.
We were also told that, despite OS X's unix base, it's still running on HFS+ (usually), so it's still a good idea to defrag every once in a while.
Instead of making them eyesores, why not make the attenas themselves sculptures?
But they already are sculptures. I don't think they're eyesores at all. Antennae are beautiful, dammit! I've never understood the general dislike most folks seem to have for them.
Get listed on etree.org. Get on Furthur (http://furthurnet.com), which is a program for trading complete live shows in mp3 and shorten (SHN) format.
These are all excellent suggestions, I would just add that once you're on board with the SHN format you can add to your exposure by posting some of your shows to newsgroups like alt.binaries.music.shn. If you allow taping and attract some dedicated tapers into your scene, they'll take over these chores for you. You might not get much taper attention if you only put mp3s online however.
We have copyright laws for a good reason, and they should be protected.
Copyright was created solely for the purpose of encouraging innovation and creation, through financial incentive. Nowadays it exists primarily to safeguard the revenue streams of usurious media conglomerates, and creation and innovation are being increasingly stifled.
Copyright has gone horribly wrong, and desperately needs to be fixed. "Protection" is not an applicable term in this context. If copyright can't be fixed, then it must die.
In this case, it's been overridden by the need to be practical.
Think about it... you are asking for 100% GANDALF-FREE trailers, advertisements, toys, promotional materials, lobby cutouts, EVERYTHING you can think of to do with TTT. You're saying they should ignore the star power of Sir Ian, give the man short shrift by leaving his name off everything (except the movie itself of course), deny him the opportunity to help promote the film, all to keep a WIDELY KNOWN "spoiler" out of the minds of those few laggards who haven't yet bothered to pick up the books?
Don't you think those people still not "in the know" might get some inkling when they see that The Two Towers lists as one of its stars... SIR IAN MCKELLEN???
Or are you saying they should leave Sir Ian off the ad credits, keep him off the talk show circuit as the premiere approaches, etc? Madness.
Keep in mind the hundreds of priests now being wrongfully prosecuted due to a stererotype that is spreading like wildfire. Bear in mind how it is ruining their lives.
Twit Romney hates ham radio.

Like the experience of bitching about it all on slashdot for example.

"Innocent corporation" is an oxymoron.
If they could train killer bees or wasps, they'd be all set with a little attack force. They might even qualify as a SWAT team.

All at once, or separately?

And so they run around, giving tips to the servers.
Those lucky enough to be near an Apple Store can get it for $98 and change at the release party Friday night starting at 10:20pm local time.

Some audiophiles do.
I want the name "Abby Normal" inscribed on my cryo-tube.
Yes, but is the RIAA listening?
Rock on.

OT I guess, but... a headline I saw recently:
Priests Decry Witch Hunt
All I could think was "What comes around..."
I can think of no greater disincentive to the creation of music than the prospect of having to do business with these jackals.
TFM...
The Fandom Menace
To save us all from their incessant whining, obviously.
