USB is not the best way to run every device. PS2 style works much better for mice and keyboards. I have yet to use a USB printer. Homemade circuits are not easy to hook up to USB. Text terminals on USB?! Actually, the only thing I own that uses USB is my mouse, and I run it on a PS2 adapter.

Software may not rely on the extension anymore (what does the OS have to do with it?), but it's still a nice thing to see. You just have to look at the filename and you know what type it is. Unless some moron changed it, but then you can just use 'file' or whatever you like. Although I see your point. The filesystem could store filetypes independant of the filenames, and then they could still be presented in directory listings etc. I don't have a problem with the way it is not, so I don't really care :)

Actually, if you want to MORE than 10 seconds into the future in 10 seconds of your time, all you have to do is run around in circles while counting. Because you are at a higher velocity, time dialates (a REALLY REALLY small amount) and you actually travel more than 10 seconds into the future.

Greetings from the future! This guy is a nutcase, he's got it all wrong. 4 years from now, someone will get it right though. If anyone else gets a chance to do some time travel, I don't suggest going to the future. Bill Gates rules the world, and has outlawed all linux-based time travel systems (which is the only ones I ever use). The Windows ZXPQ3Z based systems are downright scary. One bluescreen and you end up 4,000,000 years off of the time you wanted. Not to mention the security problems of MS Time Explorer (TIE), which only a strom trooper would be dumb enough to use.

Field of focus is just about impossible to achieve without having a physical distance present. Obviously the multi-layer monitor idea would allow for it, but in order to create very large depths, a giagantic monitor would be needed. The only other way I can think of is having a system that can track the eyes and compensate.

  16. Noise cancellation is a simple thing on Making Your Room Quiet · · Score: 1

The noise cancellation used in those headphones and such is actually quite simple. All you need is a well placed microphone and a phase-shift network and/or inverting amplifier. I remember seeing things like this shown on TLC or discovery or something and they (as usual) acted like it was some super amazing feat of science. All you need to build it is a set of headphones, 2 mics (1 for each ear), and about $2 worth of components.

my favorite was definately KQ6. That game was totally awesome. Had a great storyline, awesome puzzles....ahh those were the days. In KQ7 they totally screwed it up though. They switched from the usual mouse cursors to having only ONE! And worst of all, it went sparkly whenever it was moved ontop of something that did something important. Plus it automatically saved your game for you and you could never get yourself into a place where you needed to restore an old game. Basically, a 2 year old could have beaten that game. The graphics were all disney looking too.

Of course, the boss screens were usually crappy looking spreadsheet imitations or some sort of "technical looking" screen. But provided your boss is ignorant, it would work just fine. Of course, once people were able to actually run a REAL spreadsheet program at the same time, this idea died. Too bad, it was awesome.
