    15 years in prison is excessive but 5 years in prison would be about right.

    The american colonies were not just spontaneous uprisings. It was act of colonial legislatures using organized
    local military against the army of the mother country.

    The american revolution was a war of succession not a war to overthrow the central government. The american colonies already
    had formed their own provisional government and that government asked for assistance. The french did not actively
    aid the US until 1778 which was more than a year after the declaration of independence.

    256k-768k is fast enough for their casual web browsing and email checking.

    Maybe the actual explanation is Americans are cheap and whenever 5 mbps internet costs $19.95 a month then they will all have it.
    However by that time, I expect dsl and cable internet providers to provide low tier internet service for free to keep
    people as tv and phone customers.

    If FCC rules dont force net neutrality then Department of Justice might begin Antitrust investigations and
    force pipeholders to lease their lines in areas where there is only 1 broadband provider including to municipalities. Also the FTC
    could prohibit broadband providers from using terms like "high speed" for 768k connections and "unlimited"
    for bandwidth caps and throttled providers.

      Yes there is a difference between a social democratic system and a socialist one.

    Of course for the right saying your political enemies are wealthy social democrats who want you
    to be able to drive greener cars and eat more healthy food isnt quite as effective as calling them all marxist commies.

    In other words they dont have the resources to do squat to amazon.com. If they had, they would, and they would be bragging about it.

    If you want to send a message use the post office. Amazon.com would probably be more sensitive to a boycott than to a DDOS attack. When you are the size of Amazon.com , ddos attacks are just part of the cost of doing business.

    What bad press? In the US?

    Amazon has a great reputation in the US as a company that sells cheap books and cheap legal music, their shipping
    is very reasonable and they have excellent customer service. Other than a few hackers, most Americans either dont care what amazon
    did and are too busy christmas shopping on amazon.com or support the action of amazon.com.

    IBM has seen open source as a means of creating "solutions" for customers not a money maker in of itself. Ibm views linux as a sturdy and inexpensive tool that it can spend money to become very expert at. Sun sells expensive tools, IBM sells solutions to customers needs using inexpensive tools. That is why IBM is very very rich.

    Its not that simple. A 15.6 gb file like WOW might be transmitted serially to all receivers every half an hour (taking about 23 minutes to transmit). You might even have it transmitting on 3 different channels staggered so if you missed bits you wouldnt have to wait the entire time to get it. Also while you are downloading you can still use your regular internet connection for whatever without losing bandwidth.

    Analog tv broadcast of internet would require something that doesnt need perfect transmission the first time, and packets can be retransmitted with error checking and checksums.

    I bet companies like blizzard would LOVE to be able transmit the 15.6gb WOW:cata client at 100 mbps. Also microsoft windows service packs and linux ISO's...things that can be pieced together.

    In favor of disc registration. If each disc has an unique encrypted signature or code, you can make backups but
    you would only play the disc (whether original or backup) it with the account that its registered to.

    1) It would allow legal backups and homebrew making legal modchips unnecessary
    2) It would also get stolen xbox discs out of the channel. Legal disc owners
    could still deregister the discs when they want to resell.
