How is feminism and equal rights a progressive tool when it involves reaching into other people's lives and telling them how to enjoy their own sexual fantasies? Obviously though, the Millenium Force isn't the only rollercoaster at Cedar Point. While I unfortunately haven't been to the park for a couple years and therefore haven't had the opportunity to ride Millenium, I can say there are good rides and bad ones. My two favorites: The Magnum (former tallest steel at Cedar Point) and the Raptor (legs free coaster) They're both incredibly exciting while smooth at the same time. My two lease favorites: The Mean Streak (gigantic wooden) and the Mantis (stand-up) The Mean Streak was so jarring that while it was an exciting coaster, it was mostly painful and nautious. I felt kinda sick after riding this one. My limbs just aren't what they were when I was in high school 5 years ago. The Mantis was one of the worst coasters I've ever been on. While you wouldn't think a steel to be so jarring, this one whips you from one direction to the next rapidly, slamming your head against the harness. The G-forces seem pretty high and discomforting, because when you finally get off you feel miserable, at least my dad and I did. To make matters even worse, as this is a stand-up coaster, you have to sit on what basically amounts to a bicycle seat. Instead of your cushy rump taking the force, it all goes to... your groin and your legs. "That will chafe my willie." I'm in pain just talking about it. Good luck walking afterwards. Heyyyyy, you probably know my friend Atley right? He went to Oberlin.

SPOILERS I couldn't agree more. After episode 6 I really got my hopes up that there would be a continued development of depth between Shinji and Rei but in the end everything basically fell apart. The end of the series is just one tragic loss after another. Despite what Shinji said, Rei really was replacable in the end as a vessel for what barely passes as a human soul. After failing to defeat an angel, Asuka's world colapses in on itself. The secondary classmates abruptly move away to never be seen again. Kajii dies, Misato cries, Shin-chan gets a boyfriend only to kill him in the same episode. The ending was mainly the destruction of everything the series created. Sure episode 26 ends with Shinji on a resoundingly positive note, but this wasn't worked towards at all. The final two episodes just seemed to be painfully incoherent. The so-called "happy ending" was just a cop-out. The series is not nearly what it could have been. Anyone who would dispute that does so by rationalizing IMHO.

  13. Re:Evangelion on Evangelion Reviewed In LA Times · · Score: 1

That's very true, note the episode where Shinji refused to attack unit 04 regardless of how many people it would kill or what his orders were. Asuka on the other hand is all about bashing those standards. How is Rei the id? That would mean she's merely instinctual impulses that lead to primitive desires. She never really desired anything did she?

There's a big difference between what the world would "like" and what the world is actually able to achieve. The consensus has been that Kyoto is an unattainable goal, and there's no reason to debate about something that's going to fail in the end anyway. The fact is European nations have not as of yet adopted Kyoto so Bush's backing out of it is a moot point so far. The difference is you are willing to pretend that you'll go along with it and we are not.

That being said I will definitely admit America has not done nearly enough to control our own pollution levels including the emissions of our silly SUV's.

  16. Re:Script on Finale for Final Fantasy Studio · · Score: 1

It wasn't just bad writing that dragged the movie down, it was bad directing. Personally, I chalk it up to the arrogance of Squaresoft that guy who writes and basically directs their video games, Hironobu Sakaguchi, could be equally adept at directing a movie. The man had never directed before and it completely showed in scenes that were supposed to show dramatic tension but came off as awkward. Note the scene at the beginning where Baldwin becomes apparently infected and collapses. The scene moves so fast that before you can say WTF? he's back to normal again. Instead of playing it safe with familliar characters that would draw an audience from anyone who had ever played the game series, Square continued to do what they had done for every Final Fantasy series prior. They reinvented the wheel in hopes of making a better wheel, but in this case they learned that making a quality movie requires more than their time-tested video game formula. I would chalk it up as: 1. Disloyalty to the fans in making a movie that while thematically similar is for the most part dissimillar to the video game series as far as monsters, music, villians, characters, worlds are concerned. All material that could have made this a familliar Final Fantasy movie was wasted. 2. Confidence that a man who creates good video games maketed primarily towards younger Japanese could make a $100 million+ feature marketed primarily towards mainstream US audiences.

Not only are they releasing it dubbed, but if you watch the trailer @ www.escamovie.com you'll find out that it's poorly dubbed. Hopefully with the success of movies like Crouching Tiger, Iron Monkey, Run Lola Run and Brotherhood of the Wolf among others, the pathetic anime companies will realize that people prefer the untainted product. That being said, the voices of Final Fantasy X were more than adequate, they were pretty darn good IMO.

Make a "file directory system" where "folders" can be created beneath each other and the directory can be traversed and folders can be created, deleted, etc. (basically a program that traverses linked lists) Most of the programs they assign in these classes take up hundreds of lines of code. For programs that large, if anything looks simillar after stripping the whitespace and changing the variable names.... yeah, they probably did cheat.

I wouldn't say something as extreme as that, but in general the game was a letdown. The 40 characters absolutely sucked ass but more importantly, the gameplay just didn't seem challenging. You could use the same strategy over and over for every enemy in the entire game. Plus (SPOILER) what's with that stupid Darth Vader aspect of the plot? If Serge's father had his soul removed and his appearance changed, wtf does it matter that he's the main badguy? The plot did a good job of tying everything together imo but you're right, too much liberal hand-wringing taking place here. By saving Kid's life you killed the faries! They really try your patience with the GF's that take 30 seconds each to summon.
