    The USA has already done what you suggest in the past.

    It's them that have helped Sadam to rules Iraq. It's them that have put the Taliban in place. And it's them that have help the Warlord to overthron the Taliban.

    A wolf will always be a wolf. It's never a solution to a problem.

    Why do you say that the N-Gage was hacked? The N-Gage run Symbian OS and Symbian OS allow you to install what you want on it, and it support Java and CPP, so you should be able to run whatever you want, including a MAME port.

    many n-gage games, including Sonic-N, can be run on other smartphones, such as the Symbian First of all, Symbian isn't "another smartphone", it's an OS. Second, there's a lot of smartphones that use Symbian OS, and one of them is the Nokia N-Gage. Other Symbian OS phones include the SonyEricsson P800, Nokia 3650, BenQ P30, Motorola A920, Sendo X Smartphone, etc.So, if a game is able to run on the Nokia N-Gage, for sure it runs on Symbian OS! (but probably not all devices running Symbian OS...)

    How big a company is Sendo? How prominent are they in the field?

    Sendo isn't really a big player in the mobile industry, but it's nice anyway to see them leaving Microsoft!

    Sendo was listed as one of the first SmartPhone (what a misnomer) partners: who else joined? Have they put anything out yet?

    By now, only Orange offer a "smartphone"...

    I thought that the great justice system exist exactly for that.

    So some peoples are stealing their property? Sue them! Bring them to court! But please don't start shooting at them!

    If they can have the right to make their own justice, I want that right too!

    Yes, very good idea! And after that, we can take the best every Desktop and window manager and do a "single best-of-breed" Free Desktop Environment. But don't forget to also take the best from every good free Office Suite, so wea can have the "The-Only-Free-Good-Secure-Godlike Office Suite(tm)" to put into your distribution!

    And why stop now? Merge Mozilla/Konqueror/Opera to create the "Super-Duper-Magical Internet & File browser(tm)" too!

    Damn, I think we have a winner in that product! Maybe we should call it Windows XP?


    Really, I often read on /. about how great it could be if we stopped competion in open source and instead do a "only one" great app that take the best of all that currently exist. The problem here is that the idea you have about the "great one" isn't the same that I have or that everybody else has.

    I don't want a "single best-of-breed Free Unix distribution" just because such a thing isn't possible. So instead of having only one distribution "to bind them all", I prefer having the choice between a lot of good and different ones.

    Have you ever tried LRP (Linux Router Project)? I suppose no, because you don't get the "NFS mess" you talk about. I've seen it running from floppy disk and compact flash card, and it worked great.

    Sure, you don't boot in 3 seconds when you do it from the floppy disk, put the flash card was a better anyway...! and you don't need to flash your BIOS everytime you want to upgrade...

    There are a lot more of minimalist Linux distro that don't have this "NFS mess", like tomsrtbt and Small Linux... go to Linux.org to see a huge list of minimalist Linux distro! (of course, you need to select "minimalist" in the category box...)

    I think it's great that they compete each other. That way we will have better Linux distro for us, and better Linux distro to compete "their common enemy". That's why competition is good you know!

    No, it would be crazy since when you have access to the source, you can look by yourself if there's any bug in the software, and fix them if you find one. So you wouldn't be able to sue those who open their source.

    Also, when it's open source, everyone can change what they what in it... so if there is a bug, who is the fault? Anybody who have seen the code can have been able to see/fix the bug... so are you gonna to bring every body that used that software into court for not fixing the bug?

    It's already ported for this phone. I've play on my Nokia 9210 phone, and it's supposed to work on a lot of EPOC/SymbianOS device. You can see screenshot here and here too.

    the nokia 7650 is exaclty the kind of phone you're talking about, and it'll be available in the 2nd quarter of 2002 in Europe, Asia Pacific and Africa.

    and the Ericsson P800 is the same thing too, but will be available in the 3rd quarter of 2002, but on all of the 5 continents!

    So, we're not so behind the Japan... for now.

    Don't expect to see this with your eyes! It's like saying you can't sniff data from a wireless network because you don't see nothing passing in front of your eyes. There are things that eyes can't see you know...

    Products placement and banner ads aren't the samething at all. When you see a banner on a website, you know that's a banner, that someone has paid for it.

    But, when Yahoo|Terra Lycos|MSN|AOL|Inktomi|Alta Vista put in a search result link to websites that that have paid to be listed first, you don't know if it's a "real" result, or if someone has paid to put it their.

    If they put these "sponsored links" like Google does it, it'll be a "clean" way to make advertisment (and money). That's one of the reason why Google is so popular.

    We live in a capitalist society, and in a capitalist society money controls everything. That's good, because money doesn't discriminate, and if we want to make a change, all we have to do is with-hold our money.

    Or when a big corporation with a lot of money goes against someone who have a lot less money, no discrimination there too?

    So he didn't spam his resume. Sending resume to compagny or job search engine, even if it's to all of them, this isn't spam, it's just searching for a job and this is a lot better then sending your resume to all e-mail adress that you've found (that's spam)...

    I don't know where you've had this information about "buying an OS", but if you're talking about SkyOS (and I think it's the case since you're not "offtopic"), this OS isn't for sell, it's free! Because this OS isn't Open Source anymore, it doesn't means that it isn't free anymore... don't be confused by Open Source and Free , they aren't the same thing : one is about source code and the other is about an economic things that some people call "money"...

    Robert Szeleney: Until version 3.0, SkyOS was open source. But now, I don`t want SkyOS to be open source. I put so many work into this project, that I don`t want to give to source away. But I accept project members. If someone want to code for SkyOS he can have source. Also, I accept source codes and bugfixes for SkyOS. I don`t put restrictions for coding style. If someone coded for example a new driver, I will change the code to fit into the whole SkyOS coding style.

    For those who doesn't know, Robert Szeleney is the man behind SkyOS.

    Maybe I don't understand how spam and POP3 client works, but how can Outlook protect more against spam then, let say, Eudora, or any other POP3 client that have a filter option in it?

    I mean, I know only two way that someone can stop having spam... you don't put your e-mail at everyplace that they ask for your e-mail and you install some basic filter rules. I don't see anything specific at Outlook in this...

    But maybe someone can show me the light, an explain me why Outlook is so much better (hope you see the irony here) than any other POP3 client at preventing from spam?
