AFAIK people at Nokia usually like money, so if they plan to launch N-Gage isn't because they think it will be a major failure.
N-Gage is a cell phone and costs more or less like a cell phone... I suppose that the phone capabilities of N-Gage are not meant as secondary features.

The parallel holds just partially... the technical aspects of doing movies don't change as fast as the videogame developement methods... I mean camera operators are not required to re-learn filming techniques every 3 or 4 years.
It just remember me all the chattering about "TV isn't all evil" I heard as a child... it was some time ago indeed (sigh) and my teachers were of the first generation who really grew up with Television...
"Developers can't force their game worlds and huge stories on users."
Say that you like to play games, say that you would like to play online because playing with/against other human being is more fun/challenging/whateveryouwant... say that maybe you also have a life... would you really log once in a while in some ultima online or diablo server and hang around as the very weak guy that could be crushed anytime by any hardcore semipro online gaming addicted who can and usually do stay in the game 24/7?
Donthinkso, just let people log in and start having fun as fast as a coin slips in an arcade machine... call me old fashioned
Of course the first rumors and reviews were all but encouraging, maybe the N-Gage is just slightly better than the GBA possibly even worse...
finally it doesn't matter because if I'll get a new cell phone in the next 12 onths, as I did yearly during the last three years (my cell phones are quite likeli to have tragic crashes), I will give a very close look to N-Gage.
Look at the businness model, there's no "give the razor sell the blades" things there, Nokia isn't after the hardcore gamers but the regular cell phone users who don't dislike to "insert a coin" once in a while.
Nor I saw any kind of dicount in Switzerland where at educational prices a 12" Powerbook starts at 1,819.50$ (2,469.42) including 7.6% taxes at today rates :(
Once upon a time Mr Lucas was the coolest guy in hollywood one and Indiana Jones and Starwars were the trilogies... millions of fans dreamed if they could ever see a fourth Indy film or a new Starwars stuff.
Present day: Lord of the ring and Matrix are the trilogies, nobody is really excited 'bout Episode 3 and even worse too many remember Mr Lucas as the man who created Jar Jar Binks...
so there's no reason left to delay the DVD edition of Indy, hype about it is shrinking not growing.
Every time I use my Visa information about where/when/how I spend my money are collected and stored somewhere... I can do nothing about it and I can hardly stop using credit cards unless I retire on a forgotten island.
It seems possible to create anonymous electronic money system, but actually nobody is pushing in this direction.
I don't think there're security issues slowing or avoiding the development of anonymous electronic cash, but rather credit card corporations that don't want to stop to collect approx 2-4% of each credit card transaction.
Of course sales taxes are higher than 4% and governement intrudes privacy more than Visa or Mastercard, but at least governement tries to give me security .
Because everybody would sit down in peace, happiness and living harmony with the sky waiting for the next quantum leap... and Apple would sell no hardware at all...
...no one would like to be the one that yesterday bougth the last 3500$ 23" Cinema display, would you?
That's great for aussie, but I fear that this stuff will never leave the southern emisphere because I can easily figure out gangs of M$ lawyers ready to rumble as soon as a company try to sell it outside Australia.
Yeah, you've just to put together a compuer with 65000 processors and 16 Terabyte ram (16 000 000 000 000 byte = 16 000 Gigabyte = 16 Terabyte?) and you can have the os for free.
It's more a matter of goals; If a company is aimed to increase the stock value instead of make products it's anyway doomed in to the long run.
The main difference berween M$ and Enron was that M$ did illegal pratices to sell more products while Enron did illegal pratices to cover the fact that selling nothing at all wasn't a great strategy to raise cash.

Increased maturity of a market => less place for little player.

"Of course the creators of DOOM and Half-Life - that was their intention."
Of course the intention of Tecmo was all but exploiting the nudity of pornstar lookalike videogame characters.
If I had a teen daugther (or even in her thirties, I suppose) I would never let her go out dressed like a DOA girl...

if this can sell even N-Gage stand a chance.

:(
Cool but what about the game itself, does it worth 79$ plus shipping ( lik-sang)?
I mean is this more a Dreamcast-Sega or a 32X-Sega stuff? ; )
Wouldn't be better than create tax barriers.
AFAIK KHTML isn't a proprietary solution
DoA Online isn't really the first... Kaillera lets play online tons of ol' school fighting game, e.g. Street Fighter or King of Fighter...
possibly is the first 3D.
Atari: no matter how many time you kill it... it will be back in a while...
ever played Doom with respawn...
not so bad for a company that since jaguar has vintage t-shirt as core businness
Just give a look here

people spend far more time chattering about java than using software written with it...
maybe because talking about is the only field where java and c/c++ have the same performances.
The whole things is turning into another I can hire more lawyers than you show off...
nothing new under the sun indeed.

As well as 5.99 shirts dominate over Armani's ;)

I'm very confident that it will be ne next greatly insane console.
Beside my feelings do someone has sone games to sell for my pippin?

From yahoo finance => Institutional ownership: 59%
as long as Microsoft is not an institution is quite hard that it can own 51% of apple shares
