It is possible to transfer video from DV camera to DV camera with a Firewire cable for instance.
It can also be used to connect up to 6 PlayStation 2's together, as that is what they used for "link" play before the recent release of the ethernet card for it. The port is on the front right next to the USB ports.
I've been playing with Safari, and I just found out that when you connect to an FTP site through it, it uses the built-in finder FTP support and mounts the site on the Desktop. pretty slick if you ask me! If this has been posted already, I'm sorry, I didn't feel like reading through all 800+ previous posts.
The record companies are going too far. Soon it will be illegal to fart because it sounds musical to someone at the RIAA. Fuck em. Hmmm... maybe I should put the sounds of humans farting on CD as prior art. And copyright it, of course.
"So the Navy Pier accident isn't unique in violent destructive power."
Navy Pier? Huh? Mavy Pier is in Chicago, put Port Chicago is in San Francisco. There was no mention of Navy Pier anywhere in your post, what big explosion were you referring to? I'm from Chicago and I have never heard of a large explosion on any pier.
Remember those gloves from the 80's? (I wore them in my young years) They would look plain when at room temperature, but make em cold and they change their decorative and/or ornamental appearance. Look out Apple, I have prior art in my storage bin in my folk's attic. Same goes for Hypercolor shirts (yeah, those were cool... wink wink).
That is the funniest site I have ever seen. I've never considered my LAN parties "online training camps" but ok. I can be a trainer. Gimme a f'n break. The fact that they label all video gamers as "social outcasts" doesn't sit too well with me either. I hope that site is a joke, and they really need to stop twisting their source articles' research. That site makes me laugh more than CAP (farkers know what i mean).
If you'd actually read my post you'd notice that I was only criticizing christian scientists, who are the group responsible for the nonsense article. Feel free to worship how you like. And if something I said about your religion makes you uncomfortable, perhaps you aren't as secure in your beliefs as you thought, mr. defensive.
First of all, I wouldn't trust any figures I'd read in a religious magazine, as they tend to make up stuff when they look bad or have some reason to make people fear God (such as believe in god and you'll get a job). Seriously. My astmatic friend nearly died when he was a child when his bible-thumper mom decided that they were christian scientists and he didn't need his inhaler because "God" would fix him. That lasted 2 days until his mother reluctantly took him to the hospital when he couldn't breathe. Christian scientists are dumb, and they probably made up those figures, as evident by all the engineers who have posted to this thread who still have jobs.
I tried calling. After swearing at their computer assisted operator (more signs of a retarded company... like sprint pcs), i connected to their website help department. I told the gentleman that I find their new ads extremely annoying and will make sure that myself and no one i know will every buy anything from a site that utilizes a technology that takes over my browser. I asked that he pass it on to anyone he knows at the company that could have the influence to make it stop.
Another annoying aspect of this company is the first thing they do when you call is ask for your phone number. Luckily, giving them their own phone number seemed to get me connected;)
I hope more people do the same. It'll at least tie up their phone lines so they can't make any sales and hopefully they will go away. Kinda like a PDoS... Phone Denial of service. Ooo i know, we could set one of those "autodialers" to keep calling them, staying on the line for a minute, then hanging up (like the calls i get at home during dinner). Then they'll get the point... fast.
"I mean a WiFi hotspot with a 4 mile radius is great, but hopefully wouldn't affect home users. That'd be like some new cellular tower killing my cordless phone...certainly not appreciated."
Not only that, but from what I can remember, I think bluetooth uses the same frequency bads. Not only will it have the ability to bring your home WiFi range down, it can make sure your computer is so distracted by they all-powerful broadband signal you won't be able to sync your cell phone or BT enabled PDA to your computer anymore. I gueds we'll see how this turns out...
I agree, but to a point...

The first 5 were fantastic, I won't argue with that. The last five were mediocre, but I had other reasons to watch. The actor who played Lisa Clarke (Emily Bergl) used to ride my school bus with me. Kinda interesting seeing someone you used to sit next to in a miniseries. Good for her though, I think she did a great job, even though the episodes she starred in were a bit lacking in plot.
If you have the source code, why not charter the project yourself? You'd have thousands of Linux geeks worshipping you, as I'm sure it would pave the way for many other games (well, at least a few... which is a lot more than there is now) to be ported to Linux.
Um... I have a yamaha 4x SCSI burner that I got waaaaay back (when 4x was as fast as they could get to work) and it still works perfectly (albeit not as fast as my 24x Yamaha ATAPI drive I got for my other computer). Perhaps you should try a reputable brand instead of the Wal-Mart blue-light specials if you expect reliability and durability.
When I see "Millstone" I think coffee. I wonder if they did that on purpose (Java... beans... etc)... the Java PR people love the coffee terms, and it is only fitting that something that extends Java should use a coffee related term. I'm gonna make a java-based game engine called Starbuck.:)
Planned Obsolesce.. that pretty much sums up the general decline in ALL products, not just consumer electronics.
They have realized that if people are happy with what they have, they are less inclined to buy the same product every year *just* beacuse its new and shiny..
I couldn't agree more. I was going to post the same idea before i saw your comment. These days, people are so used to the poor quality of electronics that they aren't surprised when something breaks after a year. They just go out and buy a new one without thinking twice. Just look at cell phones. The reason why they are so cheap is because if you are like me and actually use one for more than just emergencies, good luck getting one to last longer than your forced service contract. They know that because it is cheaper to just keep buying new phones than it is to pay the early termination fee for your cell service. It also keeps the market saturated with features on these crappy electronics that most people will never have a need for (like WMA support in audio players... does ANYONE use it?).
Maybe they should have embraced more platforms than just Windows. Every time there has been a story on/. about Liquid Audio, many people bitch about linux or mac support. They should have listened, then they'd (theoretically) have a few more customers. Frankly, IMHO, if you are going to be an internet/internet based service company, you'd better support all internet platforms or you're just bound to fail (unless you are M$).
It seems they need to tweak their server for webserving instead of gaming, it would appear it could not handle the dreaded slashdot effect. Would have been an interesting article if their server wasn't on fire right now.
I've paid zero for Windows (came with computers) but have paid over 500$ for various Linux distributions in the last years.
Ok, either you got a "naked" PC and installed a pirated copy of Windoze, or you in fact DID buy windows. Your PC had it included in the price. If M$ let the PC makers ship a computer with Linux on it, I bet the M$ price would still be in the total price. That's the problem. You "think" you're getting a deal when you get it w/out Windows, but you are just paying to not get the option. Plain and simple. Sure, there are a few places where you can get a truely naked pc (wal-mart and a few others, or you could build your own), but most computers are bought through M$'s "partner" companies, IE Dell, Gateway, and HPQ, and to avoid pissing off his billness, they still send money to M$ from the sale of the PC, even if it ships with Linux or bare. That way bill stays somewhat happy, and the customer gets what he wants.
Nearly all the Xbox and PS/2 games in the world don't hold up to a single quality PC game.
How about the hundreds of PS2 (not PS/2... that is an old IBM computer)games (and thousands of PSX games) and the emm... dozens of XBox games? Surely there is ONE game you must like out of that selection. There are a TON of PC games that don't hold a candle to some PS2 games (or even gamecube...).
I mean GLUE! 78GB! 25+ layers! GLUE!. Man, I gotta get me one of them low-intensity laser thingamabobs and glue me some bigger hard drives. GLUE! And all this time i've just been sticking stuff together with it....
Jobe, I couldn't agree more. I have a G4/450 with 1GB RAM. Before I upgraded to 10.2, I got an Asus Geforce2 MX Pro 64MB DDR (for QE - $60, flashed the ROM on it myself and it works perfectly), and my computer is very happy. Just as an experiment, I decided to see how many apps I could open before my system got unresposive. I had:
IE 5.2, Mozilla 1.2, iTunes, iPhoto, Flash MX, Graphic Converter, Mail, Sherlock, OmniWeb, BBEdit, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Toast 5.2, Retrospect Express, Terminal (running top so I could spy on things), QuickTime player, MediaPlayer, RealOne, Address Book, Fetch, iCal, SlashDock, iChat, and ICQ
...all running at once! And proftpd and Tomcat running on top Apache mod_ssl (with my friends chatting on my BB i wrote with MySQL).
Ya know what? No pageouts. Still had ~100MB free RAM. Could still operate each program (yes, there was a split second delay sometimes when i clicked on something, but top showed 69 processes running!). Not one program crashed. NOT ONE! I have a screen cap to prove it (so yes, i had grab running too). It might just be me, but what more could someone ask for an OS? It's not perfect but it is very new (yes, i know, nextstep blah blah blah, it is still different enough in my eyes to be forgivable).
Sorry about the mini-rant, but if I can have 25+ (some very memory hogging.. echem Mozilla...) apps running at once (on 3+ year old hardware) and still get stuff done, it sure has my vote. Yes, I know you could do this in Linux if there were that many commercial apps to do the test. (not trying to start a flame war, it's the god aweful truth. don't mod me down, prove me wrong).
So to answer the posters question... it's speed may or not be award winning, but the amount of productivity you'll get out of it is immesurable (which in my mind is the key).

If your joystick is the reason she is your ex and not current girlfriend, then the site is definately for you.

I think "ryu" in Japanese means dragon (hence why it looks like a dragon). What does "ban" add to it? Anyone know, out of curiosity.
Now I'll have to go on believing that the moon is made of cheese and nasa films all their missions ala "Wag the Dog" in a sound stage. Me oh my.
