All records should be destroyed when the person is proven not guilty and released. WIth this ability they can just randomly detain people for questioning about some random crime that has no connection, get their DNA, and release them.
For *innocent* people this is a clear violation of the 4th amendment. ( and perhaps others )
Since i have plenty of books on my kindle that did not come from amazon. ( and are legal ) i don't compare it to critical components like 'blades'. My kindle is fully functional and has what i want to read on it, but its never talked to Amazons servers.
I had ZERO problems getting these other books on mine, so i don't see them 'making it hard to get it anywhere else' either.
Right the OP has it backwards. The federal government has explicit power to regulate ( ie, tax ) interstate trade. Them getting involved in internal 'trade' is unconstitutional.

Text documents, pictures, depositions ( audio ), scans of legal documents, etc.
Attorneys create mountains of documents for cases, don't underestimate its volume.
