I realize you want experience when you appoint people, but if they still have 'ties' there is a great chance of conflict of interest in moves like this.
I think that Ubuntu, Fedora and others could use with that sort of packaging also. By simply distributing the basic distro and setting up repositories for each application pack. That would make it easy to get a media server based on abc linux set up and maintained.
I disagree. Mainstream distributions such as this should offer it all on the disk to provide a complete coherent package, but at install time you could choose what sort of install you want.. oh wait, some do already.. so what was it again we were talking about?
All they have to do is outlast everyone else and manipulate the market to slowly gain share. Its one of the advantages of having so much cash in the bank.
Pack a laptop and the video problem goes away ( well, if it still works in 50 years )
As far as powering up a 20 year old lisa every so often, thats a lot different then having a PC sit for 50 years and *never* turned on. If they are not used they tend to deteriorate faster. Also current PC's are not built as rugged as they did back then. ( both due to increased miniaturization, and lower quality )
I dont think it will be functional in 50 years and will just be a conversation piece to go with the video.
"Catch-22" implies a no-win situation. Comcast (and the other ISPs) have done this to themselves. They advertise unlimited Internet access (or make it seem like they're offering unlimited access) and then get upset when someone tries to use it.
It says unlimited here.. So don't think its a 'seems like'.... Its fraud.

It worked so well for vista, expanding on the idea they started with XP.
Are worthless anyway. If you don't personally know the person, assume its a paid advertisement.
Because its easier said then done over the long haul as technology changes.
Yes, must mod you down for telling the truth.
Yes, that is exactly what that will mean. I bet there will be no grandfathering.
Great way to force people to upgrade.
They now have to 'whrrr'?
Well, you all elected the idiots.
The nanny state really needs to be beat back down.
thin clients reduces maintenance to a minimum.
Sure you have more administration in the back room, but maintenance on the actual clients goes way down.
Tossing computers at the problem costs less then tossing quality instructors.
And its 'cool'
Yep the government should do it for you. Private organizations aren't capable.
How disgusting. No wonder you live in a socialist society.
No, it wouldn't be dangerous.
Illegal, sure due to the idiots making the rules, but an inanimate object cant be dangerous on its own.
I bet they already did.
Its got some abstract image and a story.. But where is the actual scientific meat?
Oh, thats right, knowledge is forbidden in this country.
They don't need one.
All they have to do is outlast everyone else and manipulate the market to slowly gain share. Its one of the advantages of having so much cash in the bank.
And dont use email, or browse or or or..
Only way to be 100% safe is to not be online at all.
Lots of PC's from the 70's and 80s are still alive and kicking, but how many from the late 90's have survived?
I know my personal collection points to the incremental 'cheapness' of each generation.

I hope so, i have been a fan of KDE from the beginning, but so for 4.x has been dismal.
Its bloated, no longer intuitive and just plain weird....
The underlying code and libraries may have improved, but if its unusable for the end user so what?
I had a mouse in my home about the same time. Think Atari ST.
Oh, and it was 1/2 the cost of the Mac, booted faster and did more.
If they lobbied to get the stickers against Microsoft's intent.. that would mean less responsibility for Microsoft.
Either way, they all should share responsibly, and any judgments should be spread around.
Hardware makers should be on the hook as well.
