While i agree with the 200million year statement, please remember that for the most part the poor 'shape' the pyramids are in is due to man, not nature.
Most of the 'capping' limestone was stolen.. which aside from the immediate damage, helped nature do her work even more to the unprotected areas.
But yes, 6000 years isnt long in the grand scheme of things, and 200million is...
Its there, but we are a small minority now. Most of america is made up of sheep, manipulated by the mass media.
Our founding fathers must be spinning in their graves now. So much of what is happening they warned us about. ( no, not the technology of course, but the concept of the erosion of freedom.. )
Problem is current crop of FPGA chips aren't fast enough to replace a 'real' cpu.
Im a great fan of FPGA and they they are cool, but i also know what their place is, and replacing comparably ( relative cost/performance curve ) cheap CPUs isn't it.
if we dont keep re-inventing the wheel, ( regardless if the original wheel was good or bad - wont get into that debate here about java ) then the market slumps.. They have to keep pushing out the 'latest and greatest' re-hash every so often to sell product.
Its sort of like the corner resturant selling leftovers and calling it something new, so people come back in to eat.
So this means that they will be able to, without a court order, go collect all the sales records from all companies that sell any sort of multimedia device? ( ipods, md players, vcrs, computers, cdroms, soundcards, cassette payer/recorders )
Then they can take those records and use them as probable cause to start searching peoples homes and shaking us all down as a society?
Just wait for a 'police force' to wander around looking for people wearing an ipod.. " against the wall ".. " prove you have licensed this content".. Then they haul your ass off to prison since you copied a song.
What the hell is this world coming too? 10 years for a song, but 6 months for raping someone..
Id say write your congressmen, but they dont care..
In a big city, leaving work on time only gets you stuck in 'rush hour'. Having a short lunch and leaving 15 mins early can save you lots of time and hassle on the trip home.. Or leaving an hour late..
Same idea for coming in, coming in 15 mis early relative to 'business hours' saves a LOT of time. Coming in late, gets you more grief in traffic.
All AUP issues with my ISP aside, what if i want to give away part of my business's bandwidth? im NOT a 'coffee house' or other such 'hotspot', Im just a nice guy.
It is quickly becoming a commodity market for hardware and software.
Service people are being replaced by 'throwaway' computers that are not worth getting fixed. So don't aspire to be a 'hardware guy
Software is getting to the point that the average person can 'get by' and not need to call a tech to help out. When the PC flakes out due to viruses or stupidity, you just restore from the original disks..There goes a lot of admin jobs.
Canned software is also at the point that most people can 'get by', so unless you work for one of the giants, no need for programmers.
Networks, for small offices they are plug -n - play.
New product development? Have you seen a really innovative product in 10 years? Nope.
While i realize that it wont dry up 100% and there will be a small ultra high level, IT market, don't expect it to be like it has been in the past Not a good place to try to start a career.
Sure, mod me troll, but ive been in the business 30+ years, and if you dont see the direction its heading you are either a kid, or blind. ( or stupid )
Its about him bashing the current administration.
Dont fool yourself into thinking otherwize.
That can step on you and crush you if you dont watch out.
They are back in 'crush' mode apparently..
Remember you might let your friends listen to the speakers at the same time, and cut into their revenue.
Now, if they would just go after those idiots with the too loud stereos under the 'unauthorized rebroadcast' concept..
Aside from the fact that music in general is too costly, consider this:
( only speaknig averages here.. )
A uncompressed CD is 17 bucks..
To buy a CD full of downloads its costs that much or more, and you only get COMPRESSED versions..
Not too equitable sounding to me..
As they appear to be toast now...
And how can you say backing up to a *single* desktop pc is of any value?

Man that is scary...
Someone care to explain that one?

YAFLD... Dime a dozen at this point.
If it survives a year, then we can talk about it.
Beacuse sometimes you do need to get thru the firewall for the job..

This could backfire, as it might show there is enough interest to bring them back out again, pay only.
Actually, i don't see a problem wit that use either.
Now, if they were selling documents based on the font, we might have a discussion. But a simple 'title' ? Come on.. get real..
( not saying the court wouldn't slap them down, only saying *I* don't believe it should be that way )
All AUP issues with my ISP aside, what if i want to give away part of my business's bandwidth? im NOT a 'coffee house' or other such 'hotspot', Im just a nice guy.
That mean i get fined if they manage to find me?
Dont even put the word google on there at all, in any font as a protest..
But i am sure somone has copyrighted 'blank space'
The world has gone nuts, and i want off the ride.
This clearly falls into what should be considered acceptable fair use.
The lawyers have taken over the country ( world ) and are even more dangerous then the government(s) they are manipulating.
Is the general public really this stupid and gullible?
Its not like we can change what they are going to do to us anyway, so they might as well be honest about it.
Kill them all. And close the borders totally.

1 gb is a bit tight as far as im concerned. 4gb is a 'useable' size for daily use.
