Hummmm . . . now where did I put that warez directory?
I use Eudora and I *tried* to set up a complex system of "filter words". I even it up so that all of the spam would go into a "spam filter" folder. Lotta good that did me . . . Now all of my spam goes directly into my In box, and the good email goes into the spam folder.
Come to think of it, it seems to work out just fine.
One idea that I haven't heard addressed is the newsgroups. Just stop by any alt.binaries.movies newsgroup (or many of the others) and you can download screeners and handycam movies of what ever you want. My line of thinking is this -- the binaries of the movies have to reside "somewhere" on the internet, usually on your ISP's newsgroup servers. The information is mirrored throughout the internet and must reside on several hundered servers at any one given moment.
Why hasn't the Digital Police gone after the ISP's who have the information ready and available in the alt.binaries newsgroups? If I download a movie from an alt.binaries newsgroup am I guilty for having it on my hard drive? Is the ISP guilty for having it on the hard drive of their server? If it is ok for the ISP, why is it a crime for me?
I think it is just a matter of time before the digital police step on too many toes get their legislative support pulled from them.
This is just a mere marketing scheme. $250,000 with strings attached! They couldn't have bought this much "good, warm & fuzzy" press with a quarter-mill. I can just imagine Sheriff Bill saying, "Round up the usual suspects and IF we can prosecute, I'll dish out the cash." The real reason for the announcement was/is to put the townspeople at ease -- without Microsoft actually have to DO anything about their flawed OS.
I never saw the Martix series -- I DID see the animatrix version online, so I gave it a view. I didn't realize that it was done after the movie version. I just didn't follow the Matrix series, or any movies for that matter, very closly. My error.
Maybe Hollywood will have to start doing cartoons the old fashioned way -- to draw them by hand. But then again, they will just export the animation labor to Korea.
Heheh . . . Just wait until they get the "over and above" bandwidth bill. Maybe if they are lucky their ISP will just bump them up a few billing slots instead of zapping their wallets for the per meg overage.
I guess it is better to have a production delay, than to release something with as many exploits as Windows 2000 pro/server had. How much bandwith did you waste in the last few years on downloading service paks and patches? What would have happened if you ignored the service paks?
I for one, will wait or switch, before I support another Windows version with as many holes in it as a slice of swiss cheeze.
That actually is a good idea -- execpt maybe give people the ability to form a class action suit against a individual spammer.
A Hooters restaurant was basically shut down because of a class action against junk faxes. They repeatedly sent out junk faxes until a group of people (lawyers who got the junk fax also) got the fax list (20,000 or 30,000) and faxed everyone about joining a class action suite. They had a bunch of people sign up at $500 a crack and they went to court. The judge awarded damages to everyone and the restaurant had to close the doors and go bankrupt.
When you get ANY government involved in ways to deal with the spam problem, you will get commitities, studies, and watered down legislation. The only people that will get hurt are the non-profit orgs and businesses that send out email newsletters. (documentation, ect)
How many of you still get junk faxes? I still get several a day (business fax of PhantomCow.com) -- and I call every one of them back to get "removed" off thier list!! There is a law in place that will let me sue a junk faxer for $500, but it has to be a second offense, and you have to document everything.
Just because you have a law, and give people the right to sue a company for spam, or whatever, it is still a hassle for the average Joe, and he won't do anything about it -- execept hit the delete key!
Does he *really* expect anyone, especially a jury to feel sorry for him when the boot of oppression is smashing his face? Heck no, I say let him take his anarchist thoughts to prison and see how many guys doing over a nickel of time feel. *I think he will get his butt kicked every freaking day* in prison!!* (just for being a wus)
He deserves what he has got so far and whatever may come in the future!
The cushions are made out of layers of a special plastic foil, called ETFE (ethyltetrafluoroethylene), which is particularly ideal for the biomes because it lets through most of the sunlight that hits it.

hehe . . . That's why I just had to post the link to the Skini. I wouldn't want someone to overlook a visit to their site.
