I'd have to agree with this. In the previous election, the local media went to great lengths to offer an "unbiased" view of the libretarian candidate as some half-psycho anarchist. This was part of the regular election coverage, not some series of mud-slinging ads.
I'm seriously pissed, but logic tells me not to upset "The People with the Fully Auctomatic Weapons(TM)."
Faster DSL is useless in the states until the telco's quit guarding and charging for broadband lines like it's their damn cherry. When that happens, ISPs might actually be able to afford to serve the "ulimited" service they claim without pruning off the people that actually use their share of bandwidth.
Example? T1 prices 5 years ago where $400 to $800 a month and T3 was about $8000 a month. Now? T1 is about $400 to $750 a month and T3 is about $6500 a month on up.
Actually, I can empathize to some extent. I didn't even realize that I thought different from others until got into an argument with the rest of my philosephy class that thought was not necessarily in language. (Thinking in English for example.) I find such language thinking to be frustrating and limiting. Personally my thoughts seem to take on 4 facets, there seems to be a formless set of thinking, which seems to boil down to linking ideas without having to specifically recall their labels or patterns. There is the language thought, which to me is actually secondary with a literal delay. This is the common "I think in English" kind of thought. I also can think in images and assemble different ones and concepts to model ideas too complex to make sence of in language thought. This is not nearly as good in quality as with people with "photographic memory" but is more dynamic. I also think in sound, although I find this a little harder to control and has little value past imagination.
"The hardest part for him was to translate his findings back into language that others could understand."
This I can empathize with very much. As I hinted to earlier, I have trouble converting all these different forms of thought into language thought. It is very frustrating and I find the product to lack about half of the original idea, and often inaccurate in what did actually make it.
For the record, I do not use any kind of drugs like you allude to. You do hit on something dispite the attempt to make light of the situation. If the ability was not there, how would we be able to halucinate, how would we be able to dream if all thought was was the language(s) we learned. Does one magically start to think only when they start to learn language?

About 4., as the other posters pointed out, this has been remedied, but occasionally a diesel engine can go runaway. Even with the gas cut by lack of fuel injection, if the engine is hot enough, it will burn the oil. The fix for this is to cut the air intake, and in extreme cases, dump CO2 into the air intake. (This info is second hand, BTW.)
"Perhaps NASA should redirect more of its money from the ISS to new propulsion technologies (nuclear etc) to reduce lift costs (yes I know you probably wouldnt want to do a launch from the ground to LEO with nuclear rockets, but perhaps other avenues could be approached)."
My PPro 200 with 96MB runs fine with Lycoris build 48 (KDE). The slowest thing about it is Konq which is used like IE is in windows. At only 64MB its always to the swapfile though which is annoying.
Honestly, whenever I have tried to bring this up with other adults (being young enough to remember my teen horomone drive and quest for porn), almost every time I get a look like I'm some kind of child molester. That's scary.
Not trying to flame or troll you. I know you ment it sarcastically. I just figured I'd mention whenever I see this argument actually used by people, I wonder what makes them think that keeping children ignorant of the truth won't make them suseptable to lies. Don't question your elders; Don't ask questions; Don't talk back; Just do what you are told. It gives me chills to think of how many kids are taken advantage of because of this by people with sinister intentions. People that are ignorant, and have no problem remaining so, make good sheep for the wolves.
If you think you swear when you call verizon, I ended up having their credit card, too. They love sitting on a wired payment for 2 weeks and then charging fees (late, over limit, and interest).

Someone might just set up a website that advertises itself as a registry of email addresses that don't want spam. And the "list" page might just have that newly reported format c: IE hole. >:) Maybe, but what does dewkie know? Dewkie know nuttin'.
Thats not my point. My point is Word is not a Microsoft originating piece of software. This business practice I have no problems with as long as it is not abused (which it is sometimes but I can't say for this case).
...kinda like the cable company here offering broadband only service. Except if you just run a regular splitter from your cable modem to you TV, you get cable TV anyway. Where do I live? I ain't sayin.;P
Some of the DSL isp's give out install CD's that they stick on your computer to set you up for their network. My boss found out if he just set up the damn thing for PPPoe manually and didn't install their software, he magitastically had the isp's max rate of 1.5mbit up and down instead of 768kbit down/256kbit up he ordered. It probably varies depending on the isp though.
If I remember my computer history correctly, the first spreadsheet program for pc's was on the Apple II's before IBM and MS even got together.
As for word, that reminds me of a day in a thriftstore. You know some thriftstores have bunches of old computer junk right? Well, I'm browsin to see if they got any 4-8x CD-ROM drives in again and I spot an old software box. I think, "Oh, a really old copy of MSWord from back in the 80's." Then I notice it does not say Microsoft Word, but has another companies name where I expected Microsoft and a layout similar to the old MSWord boxes from back in the 80's. Then I think, "Oh, the software Microsoft bought out and renamed Microsoft Word. You do the math.
Well, from experience with schools now with schools (especially the bigger they get) and software problems on student machines is that they fart with it for about 15 minutes. If it isn't fixed by then they just reformat and reinstall anyway or ghost it. If that doesn't fix it, strip it for parts and/or surplus it.
Its not exactly that they are lazy, its just that with the new flavor of the week viruses that go around (think windows), it's just easier.
