    I was talking to a Norwegian Foreign Exchange student and threw out his name on the off chance he had heard of him. Oddly enough, he had and knew alot John.

    Apparently John was a part a group that worked on breaking the CSS, when it was introduced, he got all the credit (intentional or not).

    What I find extremely funny is that he is the one getting legally screwed and the others are free.

    So far I has seen two existing projects for HUDs.

    First was that one in those IBM commercials. How damn annoying would it be to have to control it by voice, even better, how damn annoying would it be to be around someone with that.

    Gmate (makers of the Yopy) have had a wearable PC projects for awhile.

    This may be an interesting and related read, but i dont have the time to read it.

    The problem of all these are they are too damn big and geeky.

    The Pragmatic Program's Guide to Ruby is very good in its approach. It really eases the person into the language.

    The opposite would be something like O'Reilly 3rd Edition of Learning Perl. Brick Wall. It hits the info fast and hard.

    I like the median the "...For Web Professionals" series. I learned PHP faster off that than any web resource or book. Plus they are pretty cheap.

    I really think that whois records should be kept more private to stop things like this.

    What pisses me off is that I get SPAM snailmail from companies that get my address off my whois.

    I have gotten numerous emails from companies doing the same thing.

    Unfornutately it is legal because they have a size 5 disclaimer at the bottom

    I wonder if it is too early? In October, I watched a sub of it and I have to say that it is one of my favorite anime movies, however, the subject is the problem (and the probable reason for the delay, I believe it was suppose to be out Jan.). The movie revolves around a terrorist that blows up cars on freeways and his attempt at bioterriorism.

    The good news to those who haven't seen it is that it has that dark, classy appeal of the TV show.

    This would fly on a residential line. Depending on the distance from the CO/RT a residental user could get a 7/1M package from the ISP for around $300 and then split it with probably 10 people.

    From my experience with Qwest, they wouldnt care.

    No one ever notes that the CRW absolutely rape cisco dsl routers.

    At its peak, Qwest had a 5 hour hold time for people who's cisco was taken down by the vuln.

    Incidently, the fix was killed more routers.

    That way Britian gets a little PR as being 'progessive' and the Queen gets a cool pad in the ocean.

    Thats a pretty clever move. Buy the source of software and distribute the source for free.

    I would happily give up 20-50$ to get the quality of blender with aviability of open office or gimp.

    It also seem to be an encouragement - the ability to write source a sell it to the OSS community.

    I was really impressed at the advancements in battery life.

    I played Rogue Spear on my dad's 15" 1 gig laptop and I got tired before it it.


    Does anyone else thing that a cacheing system similar to google's google cache would be a good idea? I certainly do.

    Well they have an e! epplet that pops up when there is new news on /. so it would seem very possible to write a script that greps out all urls and caches all links when news is posted.

    The only reason I'm not gonna go out play with something like that it that i am afraid my space would get /.'ed

  25. Big Mistake on Star Wars Episode II: The Book Review · · Score: 2, Insightful

    I read the Episode 1 book the second it came out, I now regret it. I am absolutely sure that if i hadnt have read the book, i would have liked the on screen movie a lot more.

    the problem is, is that there was a lot missing in the movie that was in the book.

    -another pod race
    -more character developement
    -better fight scenes

    plus, without the movie, there is no difference between the other books (shadows of the empire for example) and this one.

    i noticed that this one came out a week or two later than the other one did, tatical move perhaps?
