I probably should have expected that. The problem is, is that the Sharp ROM, for linux people is a POS...its completely insane. For a PDA user, its fine.
Ya, I thought those were pretty cool, and I was just about to buy one until I start get those SPAM messages. I was so sick of deleting and sifting through them I said fsck them and bought something else.
Um...I'm pretty sure you are wrong. Its been awhile since I used the Sharp rom for the Zaurus, but atleast on OZ ssh-server and client are preinstalled.
Actually, the GUI is fairly nice...but it can be skinned if thats what you want, since it runs the same OS as the Zaurus 5x00 if would assume all the screenshots of GUIs you can find on a GIS would apply. Liquid on the Zaurus is VERY cool.
IMHO...Cowboy Bebop: Knocking On Heavens Door is one of the greatest anime movies out there. I saw it a few months after 9/11 and...well all i could say was "woah".
Got to love how dark CB is...bioterriosiom...violence.
"Additionally, any tips on what you guys would think would make good open-source oriented TV and make people really want to try out Linux would be appreciated."
I think that the common belief of "You get what you pay for" is one of the things that bites linux in the arse...First thing I would do is show what programs have come out of OSS. My best example would be GIMP (while Moz, Evolution,XMMS work too). Here is this relativily little known open paint program, that does a lot of what Photoshop does. And its free!
About the books. My fav. intro books are. -RH Linux Admin Handbook -*insert any low level unix book* -linux system admin whitepapers -linux for dummies (dun laugh, great series)
sorry, the was no definitive linux book for me, unlike php
They changed that and having to chmod the files. I all runs a lot more quickly now. When I signed up a year ago, I planned on moving after my year, but they changed things so i dont have any gripes
Definitely worth the $90 i send them a year...250 Megs, 25G transfer, php, mysql, perl...well worth it. And I can say that I voted with my money -- part of my decide to use them was based on the fact that they supported a favorite browser of mine, Opera, and they are very proud of their UN*X roots.
/. ate my post, so lets do this again......its still there, but in the cultish newton fashion...in fact, Gmate will be releasing 2 new yopys within the year (1 with and 1 without wifi) that kicks the Zaurus's arse...
I have both a Zaurus 5000 and a YDK100 and I love them both, but I much prefer the Yopy to the Zaurus...to me atleast, GTK/X ownz QTopia...as far as the body goes, however, Sharp wins, hands down...
"So, Bart was actually right, and not Lisa for once.."
That pissed me off, I was taking a physics test and that question was on there. For some reason I remembered that episode of the Simpsons, and answered accordingly citing the Simpsons as the reason for my answer.
I of course was wrong, but I cracked my teacher up (she is an anime freak so thats why I could cite them as evidance)
"During the feed, it looked like the ejection of the solid rocket boosters damaged or obscured the camera, leading to a fuzzy image during the fuel tank separation stage."
I have the feeling that there is going to be a lot of anti-libranet commentary on this, but I have to say that I love it greatly.
I have been running it for 3 weeks without any problem.
The Pros: -Great Control Panel, itll even recompile your kernel for you. I tried it, does a good job -Install sets up your CD burner! -A heck of a lot of packages on one cd -even at 2.0 (what, did they skip a couple numbers =P) it came with really current packages
Cons: -Old KDE and Gnome
Libranet has the ease of SUSE with the power of debian. I have gotten 3 people on linux using libra. I'm definitely staying with it (and I've tried out SuSe, RH, Mandrake, Slack, and Debian)
Evolution has really caught the attention of a lot of people in your position. It acts like Outlook and works with Exchange, but isnt filled with the M$ vuln. Plus it does a damn good job with pda compatibility. I know that there is a pilot conduit built in and they have it syncing with the zaurus pdas (not sure about pocket pc).
I really think that Evolution is one of the best products out there, I switched from kmail to it.

Apparently Qwest monitors DSLR for reviews, but on numerous occansions they had bitched at us for bad tech support reviews.
When I was on DSL, I and my friend closely monitored DSLR and tried to lend a helping hand.
I've also had sups encourage my activities on DSLR.
wow...
"their PHP was setup through the binary"

Bring on anti-NASA the conspiracy theories...
they even included the profane name suggestions...

absolutely hilarious
I didn't think there was another use for it other than the Pokemon E-Card Series...
I meant the older version. sorry

Plus, it's free (dont think its oss).
I almost failed Intro to Comp. Sci. last year (have to take it to take Avdanced and AP Comp. Sci.) because I hated the teacher some much.
She walks into the class expecting to teach us QBasic by going through a 'Learn QBasic In 24 hrs' book.
Then, for html she made me and some others teach the class while she took notes for the other classes
Not really a rip of Apple, they made the site in Dreamweaver and used their flash buttons (which came out before OS X).
I walk around my school running kismet, within a few minutes, I'm on!
"Apparently some theaters are consenting to run anti-piracy ads before movies."
My city's big theater already has a poster on their ticket booths saying 'Pirates Not Allowed...blah blah blah...MPAA' with a picture of a pirate.
Our plan is to go into the theater with a video camera and one of us dressed as a pirate and yell out "Arrr...thats discrimation".
Hehe...just something to do to toy with those coporate bitches.
