    I totally agree,

At the end of the day, if the GIMP developers arent interested in switching PS users (something that would suprise me), then its fine to keep developing software that continues to be irrelevant to the most obvious user base.

I don't think that some simple UI re-arrangement to make GIMP *similar* to PS would be particularly hard. Simply re-ordering the tools palette into the same as PS would be a very useful start.

    He doesn't.

Anyone who remembered his tireless cattle calls to the masses of artists at mp3.com who naively got suckered into his morose diatribe saw this coming a mile off.

MR is nothing more than an agitator that looks to generate revenue from being a nuisance to real (albeit evil) companies. If he can utilise the surrounding community of underdogs (yesterday new musicians, today the free software supporters) then its even better - free lobbyists!

All he cares about is making a buck, and doesn't mind what bandwagons or communities he has to jump on in order to succeed at this goal.

Linspire will die, don't even bother with it. MR will sell out just before the vaporous company dissipates and move on to something else to exploit.

They have patrol cars on call with an arsenal in the boot (trunk) for armed offender call outs, but this usually results in a SWAT team that are supposed to be among the best in the world.

Broadband is still not everywhere, though most of the population live in a couple of cities which all have broadband, though it is monopolised by one telco that owns all the lines. The government is currently trying to sort this.

Not sure about that, I don't think Region Coded DVD players are illegal. We have a region here (4) and most players are coded, I had to do unlock mine. This NZ government also restricted the importation of Non-region 4 DVD's into the country as NZ reps of the major studios where moaning that DVD shops in NZ were selling Region 1 DVD's of movies currently showing at the cinema.. This really irritated me, as there are lots of DVD's that aren't in Region 4, and the studios should get movies here sooner. It is still legal to import/buy from amazon region n dvd's for personal use though. So I guess it is not really much of a problem.

I wonder what China thinks about America's technical capabilities. Oh yeah, that's right, the good ol US of A and Dubya are allowed them cause you are the "good guys".

Having spent considerable time in Taiwan, Hong Kong and PRC your comments about these nations show no real understanding of the political and historical complexities existing there. The world is not as black and white and good and evil as Dubya would have you believe.

You may be glad to live in a country that defends it's interests. But perhaps you should be questioning the validity of some of the interests.

Your "gung-ho" comments about Europe and America's sovereignty are great examples of the autocracy prevelant in the USA. Maybe you should consider that becoming part of a Union is actually a good thing, and can benefit the greater world instead of just your back yard.

Calling the EU socialists is a laughable jest. Geez, you've only been so far as Canada on your travels, haven't you?

As you can see by my nick, I am neither European, nor American. I would like to think that coming from this part of the world gives me a unique and balanced perspective. I respect America's power, and likewise the stable nature of the UN and the EU. I am undecided on the Iraq war, but I respect America's right to make it's decisions. Don't disrespect other nations or Unions for making different ones.

You know the saying - You live by the sword, you die by the sword. If you want America to assert military dominance over other countries and cultures in order to protect it's interests (some of which I guess logically must be located within their territory) then you must expect (whether justly or unjustly) consequences to those actions. This is your country's choice, and your country has the freedom to do so, but that doesn't mean that all the other nations should make the same decision.

You believe so powerfully in sovereignty, well what to you think China are trying to do. Protect their soveriegnty and independance from the worlds most powerful nation, it just happens to be yours, don't take it personally.
