Try Fedora. Really. Core 1 is really "RedHat 10," and is faster and lighter on memory usage than RedHat 9, to boot. It supposedly runs software packaged for RedHat 9, as well. I was uncertain -- I even emailed (er, flamed) a friend working at RedHat about the whole Fedora/Enterprise thing. I needn't have. Fedora's fine.
It might have been easier to explain to the public if RedHat had chosen to keep calling it "RedHat Linux," rather than Fedora. They could have kept selling RHN access at $60/pop, too -- just shut off the demo accounts and announce a switch to " paid support only."
Anyhoo... give Fedora a shot.

Paul Thurrott badly wants to be a priest in the church of microsoft. He's a total fanboy -- why would he not try to blame a microsoft-specific virus that targets only windows on unix?
There would also be a lot fewer people suing corporations and governments. Could YOU afford to pay the legal bills Microsoft will incur after you sue them?
Apple is only one of many companies *using* AAC. Apple did not invent it. Apple did not invent it. Apple did not invent it.
"AAC was developed by the MPEG group that includes Dolby, Fraunhofer (FhG), AT&T, Sony, and Nokia" http://www.apple.com/mpeg4/aac/
"MPEG-4 AAC has been specified as the high-quality general audio coder for 3G wireless terminals. Apple Computer has incorporated MPEG-4 AAC into QuickTime 6 and iTunes 4, as well as the latest version of its award-winning iPod portable music player. The Digital Radio Mondiale system (the next-generation digital replacement for radio broadcasting under 30 MHZ) builds on the audio coding of MPEG-4 AAC." http://www.vialicensing.com/products/mpeg4aac/stan dard.html
So, one TDM10B (1-port, internal) and one X100P (1-port, external), then? Could I get a TDM20B (two-port unit) and use one interface for the telco and one for the house phones?
Thanks for the reply. With #4, I'm trying to determine if I can connect one side of the PBX to a cell phone ("somehow").
Is it possible to have all the house phones be "bridged together" like they are now? one circuit for all the existing analog phones, serviced by the PBX?
Wordpad, the built-in text editor on XP, won't open it. It seems that they assume the audience has Word installed. Thus they have limited the ability for XP-running customers to read the document.
Unless, like me, those customers are using a Mac and/or OpenOffice.
I thought it was pretty cool, actually, that the Cylons used mass weapons rather than energy weapons. it took some of the magic out of the technology, which made it more believeable.
Besides, what better way to deliver a zillion joules of ionozing energy than in the form of a nuclear bomb? Energy weapons (nearly massless photons) can only pack so much punch, and have to be generated full-strength in the ship that's firing them. Mass weapons take much less energy to launch, and have much more destructive power when they reach their target.
Speaking as a parent, I thought it did not cross any line, and that it did add positively to the story. The cylon-in-the-red-dress seems to be self-contradictory -- she seems to care for the scientist, but also jsut snaps the baby's neck. Being contradictory makes her less flat and more human.
I like to think of captialism is institutionalized revolution, much as science is. The whole system is set up to encourage change, challenge and adaptation.
Will the publishers release games for "XBox 1" and "XBox 2," or just ignore one or the other?
NeXTbox
Mmm... black square computer...

Oh stop trolling. Use whatever you want. It is just software.
Tell that to Bill & Steve.
Guilt implies that you've done something wrong.
Like backing over the neighbor's cat, or running Windows, perhaps. But guilt because you're running OSX? Riiight.
Ehhh, no. I love OS X.
I've felt bad about using WINDOWS, though. I don't see an Ask Slashdot about that.

To workaround this problem:
- Do not start messages with the word "begin" followed by two spaces.
- Use only one space between the word "begin" and the following data.
- Capitalize the word "begin" so that it is reads "Begin."
- Use a different word such as "start" or "commence."
Remember that, kids! Use "start" or "commence!"and my favorite...
...or they could adopt a standard that has a better chance of being implemented on most/all consumer level operating systems
That would be AAC. from the makers of MP3! Coming soon to a digital radio station near you, courtesy of Dolby Labs!
WMA is Microsoft-only.
Don't be fooled. WMA is NOT more "open" -- it's simply more licensed, for now.
Interestingly, Ford used black paint for one reason -- to get the price down. That goal guided a lot of the choices that went into the Model T.

Sounds like you bought a Vaio.
Q: Can you run WinCE on my XBox?
A: Yeah! Sorta!
No, sorry, the correct answer is "who gives a shit?"

It's "great is the enemy of the good," not the other way around.
Multics vs Unix was a case study in Great vs Good.
