    ^^ this

In fact union companies tend to hire drivers for local driving. These drivers work in parcel or less-than-truckload, or LTL, delivery. Most companies who hire truckers for over-the-road driving are nonunion

Automated rigs would never make sense for local only long haul.

Not really down/up votes are not the answer because it gives to much power to the individual user.

What I think Twitter should do is bring back general public verification so that individuals who give up a certain amount of anonymity get it. Then you have the choice to follow only verified accounts, or filter your mentions/timeline with only verified tweets. Sure there are people who will abuse but it would be easier for twitter to block them. Since most people who I know that have personal twitter accounts they already have put themselves out there.

One of the issues with studies like this are they very specific and don't look at the associated environment(s). And since stress is also a contributor to some or all of the diseases ailments they mentioned who is to say that by sitting and working in a boring/stressful job isn't more of the factor than just sitting.

I lived in northern Canada and walked about 2km to school each day (the school was on the other side of town) from when I was 8 and up. While there was only ever one confirmed pedo in town I had to walk through a forest trail to get there. Going north and south on the trail got you to each part of the town, east and west and you could find yourself lost pretty quickly.
