    They have been told to stop repeatedly by multiple national governments and even have managed to be officially labeled as a monopoly by a court of law.

    There is nothing wrong or illegal about being a monopoly - its called "winning". The problem is abuse of monopoly, which appears to be rather popular with MS.

    Tablets won't be able to be fully certified by MS if they don't have secure boot enabled with no way of disabling it.

    IANAL, but this would appear to contravene European laws on restrictive trade practices. I can see another monopoly related court case on the horizon, and a possible way for Europe to pay of its bankers.

    That is because the real threat is tweezers: "Take this plane to Cuba or I will pluck your eyebrows" is a serious threat.

    Most pilots really care about their appearance!

    Yes - when I bought my last car, I fitted a new stereo. When I fitted the speakers, inside the doors were three old speakers, loads of wire, some beer cans, a screwdriver and a broken pair of pliers. I did a thorough search of the rest of the car and found a lot of spare wires and coins under the rear seat, but no cocaine

    Programming is not a fundamental skill in the same sense that mathematics, English, etc. are.

    No, but it stands a good chance of teaching pupils how to give and receive instructions. There is a major problem in the UK with school leavers who cannot follow simple instructions like "open the text book and turn to page 10" - they will open some other book, or turn to some other page, or do something else entirely. This makes them unemployable - hence the need to import a large number of Polish workers to do menial tasks.

    You must be very young and foolish. Many of us who had used Unix, VMS and even CPM were as pissed as f*&$ when DOS appeared and we had to use it. We wanted an OS that worked properly, and all we got was sh*te.

    Any goodwill to MS was confined to people who knew nothing else from day 1. As for Windows 1.0 - you can't handle the truth <throws ninja sword at screen>
