Normally wouldn't reply to AC's, but you missed the point, and are thinking too small. Cooling the water happens outside of the building, in a big cooling tower on the roof, or in chillers. The pumps for the water are also in a mechanical room somewhere else.
I didn't way water cooling made things simpler; I said it would make the server room more quiet.
Air has a very low heat capacity, and so you need to move a lot of it to get the heat transfer you need. And moving air is loud - no getting around it. There are some tricks to be played with flow straightening and sound attenuators, but until companies are willing to give up the space for larger ductwork (hence lower air velocities, there won't be any huge leaps in sound control from HVAC systems.
So ICAAN creates a new TLD, and 1 of 2 things happen:
1) existing address holders sign up for the same names under the new TLD, which just suck cash into domain registrars for no real benefit.
2) Existing adress holders dont' sign up, which allows other people to grab the address and use it with the new TLD...NOT. I can't, grab "IBM.mobi" because of trademark issues, etc.
Who benefits from new TLD's? The namespace isn't increasing.
The trick to getting high value stuff through UPS is to label it just that - "High Value". If you value your items high enough (and pay the insurance coverage), UPS flags the item and it damned near gets hand carried through the system. It Citibank would have sent it valued at, say, $25k (woefully low for the damage it's lost has caused), that little package would have been treated like the Crown Jewells.
My guess is the Citibank shipping drones weren't flagged as to the value of the contents and shipped it out at 1# for $3.85, values at $100 (default/no extra fees).
Sure hope that $100 they get from UPS covers all of Citibanks' expenses.

You are forgetting 1 crucial thing - promotion. Although their methods are nasty (payola, etc.), the RIAA members promote the hell out of stuff. Good for those the choose to promote, bad for others.
Tecjnology has given chaep means of production and distribution; if promotion can follow, that may be the last nail in the RIAA's coffin.
Between Ogg, Lame, Gimp, recursiev acronyms, and all the cutesy Linux distro appellations, it's no wonder a lot of folks can't take open source seriously.
Wave the magic wand and we use your system. Suppose we have an election with a definite margin for the winner - say the Democrat won with 55% of the vote. Now lets say the turnout is 90%, which is outstanding by any current standards. Guess what? Since the winner only got 49.5% of the votes of eligible voters, a runoff is required.
Between the same 2 candidates.
One of which has already demonstrated a 10% margin of popularity.
"Of course, not screwing staff so badly that they are prepared to risk retaliation is also a good move."
The problem is that there will always be people who believe that, no mater what the circumstances, they were screwed by the company/management.
Bad performance reviews? Manager doesn't like them. Frequent absenteeism? Company's policy isn't flexible enough. Inadequate work output? If the Company paid me more, I'd do more work.
Some of these reasons might actually be true, but for some disgruntled employees they can't be false - things are NEVER their fault. I'd be willing to bet that the same personality types for whom nothing is their fault would be the ones that have no problem with sabotage - after all, it's not their fault.
Aere you aware that the link you posted also has a drawing from the patent that shows no membrane whatsoever? I don't think you are talking about the same Model M as the rest of the world.

When everything is water cooled.

I don't need to see the other driver's music tastes to know s/he is an asshole.
No, no, no...
The best thisng that could happen to the Star Trek franchise would be to starve Berman for a while - literally.
"I makes me wonder exactly why we continue this ridiculous tradition"
Umm, because previously European matters of national pride (read "pissing contests") were settled (or not) with guns and bombs.
Stick with the dumb TV contests - fewer refugees that way, and it will allow Europeans to hold on to their self image as peaceful, war hating types.
"inferior format (mp3)"
Yes, but Ogg Vorbis has the inferior *name*.

Lets think this out...

Nice purchasing process ya got there.
