Rogers customer here. My SSH connection to work frequently got throttled to the point of usable (Try typing a character in vim, and it showed up 5 seconds later), while BT traffic is getting a passable speed around 30-40 KB/sec minimum (using uTorrent with encryption enabled).
Rogers still have a lot of work to do, but I guess they are too busy injecting message to web sites "informing" their customer they have exceed their monthly bandwidth cap and it's time to pay up... Yes, just got one of those this morning
>> Is it not nonsense to compare the charge for dinner at the company cafeteria with dinner at a fine restaurant?... If you can have an amazing experience, we believe price is not a problem.
Obviously the next question to ask is how many people can afford dinning at a fine restaurant. And by the way, price/affordability is probably an important deciding factor on how "fine" and "amazing" the experience is. If you can't pay for it, how do you expereince it, right?
a cage match between Cringely vs Dvorak. Whoever win, we lose. So preferrly, it ends with a double KO. Then we don't have to read these nonsense every week.
To ARS:
Now that Mercury News has a reproduction of the Google logo, I think just to be consistent with your copyright claim, you should request them to remove the offending article.
To Merucy News:
If you ever receive a request from ARS for removing the article, it's time to give them a smack down for interfering with freedom of the press
To Google:
May I suggest you cached that front page to your system. IIRC, court has ruled that web caching is not a copyright violation.
think of the children!? There are plenty of chairs in Ballmer's home. Think what will happen if he catch his children using iPods and Google! Someone please think of the children!!!
will G-Streamer be finally usable this time? When I tried Ubuntu 5.10 which defaulted to using G-Streamer, it was so horribly broken (skip, random crash, not playing even when plugins were installed) that after fooling around with it for 30 minutes, I just removed it and installed xine-backend instead.

So, all the NHL'ers are not considered professional? I'm sure they are rich though. According to CBC (up here in Canada), Team Canada's players earn a combined salary of about $100 millions in NHL.
Not to mention basket, socceer/football, tennis in Summer Olympics...
when will ATi release the Radeon XXX1900XXX version?
Seriouly, the naming of video cards is getting out of hand for both ATi and Nvidia. What will they do when they can't append more alphabets to the card. With a high-end video card cost more than a low-end machine nowadays, I would suggest they appended the MSRP after the long strings of makeup numbers and alphabets mess. This way, we can actually tell how powerful the video cards are relative to each other.
If Monsanto can sue them for stealing their GM crops, I hope they
countersue Monsanto for contaminating their crops. But I guess
this is one of those cases where "justice" is for the rich only.
