I hate to admit it but the parent post does have a point. He is merely pointing out the legal ramifications of posting a link to it. I believe Time-Warner will be well within their rights to ask Slashdot to take the link to the torrents down.
Funny you say this. I am reading Donald Trump's book "How To Get Rich" and he talks about dressing appropriate. Don't look cheap when it comes to you job. People take you a lot more seriously when you put the effort to look professional (not cheap).
Thanks for that info. I'll spam that email address and fax number and see how those bastards like it. I'll also get their phone number to a psychic hotline.
I read an article somewhere about faxing carbon paper (all black) continuously by taping 2 sheets of it together in a loop so it would go on and on and waste all their ink. hehe perfect time to try it.;)
I believe that windows media player 9 series comes with spyware that Ad-Aware detects. This is after specifically telling WMP not to send any data back to Microsoft.
I know WMP 9 is not part of a freshly installed XP, but I just thought I'd point it out.;)
heh... I live on a college campus, and being one of the few geeks that live here, I always seem to be fixing peoples' computers. It is amazing the number of spyware components that these people have. I have seen computers so chockful of spyware that IE simply refused to run. IE would try to go to the site typed in but the status bar showed it redirecting to like a million other sites. One time when I finally got Ad-Aware on a computer and ran it (these computers bring adaware to its knees!!) there was just so much spyware. I recall having to remove over 300 components. Sometimes I just want to tell them to reinstall windows and start over but there is no point.
And the worst part of this? They called it "Google hacking" in the article. That is just going to bring bad publicity for 2 groups. The google engineers and the "hackers" (another bad thing to add to the forever growing list created by the media).
err.. I have service from t-mobile and I get all you mentioned and more free as part of my service plan except caller ID bloock which I take care of nicely with some freeware software from symbian for my series 60 phone.
I think it is funny how a lot of Linux programmers really depise Microsoft and its products yet we keep seen all these gui "improvements" that borrow from Windows. The mockup by tigert with the commmonly used folders on the left pane is from is from XP (maybe 2000).
I am not a Bill Gates fanboy or anything, just something that I noticed.

The original post is a troll. I just checked my google now. No word verification on it at all. I even logged out and logged back in again.
Yeah same here... I tried it on 3 browsers (cleaning out the history and cache on each one) to make sure.
Gmail is neato, but I don't think it's good enough for the power user.
Thats why it is still beta.
Once again Polo has become a sport for the super rich. ;)
Hmmm.... looks like the "2ch effect" could rival the slashdot effect.

I'd have to disagree. For the average person, this is quite the hacking video. For the average hip hop fan, Sum41 is quite the punk band.
The parent post said it perfectly. You have only made his/her point.
Good. I was going to post about Lady Lovelace. You beat me to it. ;)
All vehicles will be monitored by DARPA. I saw a story about it on Next@CNN yesterday that talked about the race.
Btw, next sunday's episode of the show will have more coverage of the race and the results. Should be fun to watch.
Hey there Anonymous Coward! Someone else ran into this at the lavasoft Ad-Aware forums. Same exact problem I had.
This is no FUD. Just becasue you "have never seen this before" doesnt mean it is not there.

Not to mention that the article is worded really weird. I had to read it over again to fully understand it.
He was not being racist. He is referring to the iPod TV commercials where the dancers are silhouettes.
Yes but what do we do now? Take meager jobs and sit and wait till 2010? I am sorry but thats not good enough.
Slashdot is like an MSNBC filter. We get the good stuff without the guilt of going to msnbc.com :)

Maybe he wasnt referring to himself but to others (non-techies) that have fallen for this.

The "pin drop" thing is from Sprint and not MCI.
whoops... the link to said story is here.
There has been quite a few robots escaping lately. Anyone remember this story?
I smell a comspiracy!!
Whats next, Aibos chasing cats?!
Heh! Maybe that Nader guy might actually win this time.
