A gret program yes... but (L)users don't want to be bothered to THINK about anything.

They won't read the box that comes up. they'll mindlessly click "Allow" even if the message said "This program would like to kill your wife and rape your dog. Would you like to allow it?"**

Whatever it takes so they can get on teh intarweb!!1

**Just like not reading EULA's. A while back company (don't remember who) made a EULA that actually said you get money if you call them. Several THOUSAND people installed the program before one guy actually called.

Spoken by someone who obviously never lifeguarded.
Lifeguards are underpaid, undervalued, and generally overworked.

WE are treated like cheap babysitters. When I guarded we had parents drop their kids off at 9 am at the pool.. and leave them there until 9 PM. Didn't matter that public swim was only 1-5 and 630-9. And they would do this everyday.

And as other people have already posted; baywatch is full of shit. The vast majority of drownings occur just as this one did- SILENT.
There is no splashing, no screaming, no struggling. Because the person drowning has one sole purposel; get air.
Ever get the wind knocked out of you? do you run around the yard yelling for oxygen? NO.
You curl up in a ball. maybe one or two small arm movements, as you concentrate on one thing; BREATHING.

In 10 years of lifeguarding, I was LUCKY enough to have to only pull one little girl out of a lake when she caught a wave in the face. No screams, no splashing. Just silence and eyes like saucers.

Anything that that can shave even 30 secs off an emergency situation is a good thing.

I would say that's mostly correct. Guantanamo Bay is a US naval base.
And although it is technically not US soil, it has a perpetual lease that never runs out (The US actually pays rent every year, but Castro refuses to cash the checks on principle). And the US has complete "jurisdiction and control" of the Bay. Cuba doesn't have any power over it. And US military bases around the world are effectively US soil.
In 2004 the Supreme Court ruled that that prisoners in Guantanamo have access to American courts, citing the fact that the U.S. has exclusive control over Guantanamo Bay.
To me, that means that Guantanamo is considered part of the US.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guantanamo_Bay

But the technicality of not being US soil makes a convenient excuse to ignore pesky things like international treaties and Geneva conventions...

    OMFG yes.
I worked at a fairly sizable local ISP (40000 dialup customers at the time) when 5.0 came out.
We served a lot of rural areas- upstate NY; adirondacks. So a lot of people would dial into our service so they could run AOL over the top.

Installing 5.0 completely hosed EVERY other dialup connection on the computer. And a good portion of the time, it would hose LAN connections too!!!

Christ, I will never forget how the phones were lit up for the next 3 weeks.

There was supposed to be a class action lawsuit over that version, but i never heard what happened to it.

People, like myself, who prefer to use quick keyboard shortcuts instead of moving my entire right arm over to the mouse, manuvering it across the screen, then clicking multiple times to do something.
There are a number of helpful shortcuts in windows that use the WINDOWS key.

    Win+R = open Run dialogue
    win+E = open windows explorer
win+D = minimize everything to display desktop

There aren't dozens, but i use those 3 many many times a day. And my keyboard doesn't have an oversize Windows key, so it's not stealing space from anything.

It's like IE/windows explorer doing that stupid "click" sound every time you click/follow a link or folder or open a new page. One of the first things I disable on a new install.

I much prefer my mouse silently performing the functions it was designed for. Not serenading me on every click.

Which by definition is completely correct.

Rap is not music. It's spoken word/poetry.
Dropping a breakbeat track behind it does NOT make it music.

I totally concede that it is a form of art.

But I'm still free to dismiss it as crap, melody or not.
