  1. Picture quality? on New Multi-GPU Technology With No Strings Attached · · Score: 1

I think picture quality would vary substantially over the combined image because of the differences in anti-aliasing and texture filtering algorithms used over the years. Newer cards have the ability to make custom anti-aliasing filters, but I still think that differences in texture filtering could be a problem.

I only just got it half working this past Friday (the receiving antenna I designed and fabricated was 200MHz off my design frequency of 10.5GHz so it was useless). This technology has been around forever but hasn't been exploited much, it can be found in some of RFID technologies though. The biggest pain is designing the microwave circuits for maximum efficiency which is more of an art then a science. The fact this company has design can adjust itself for different loads is pretty interesting.

Pretty cool to see this commercialized. Especially after getting questions about the viability and applications of the technology during my final presentation. Maybe I should send the company a resume, I can't imagine they would be too impressed by my project though.

Since this weapon is causing redness and blisters I can easily see this also causing huge amounts of damage to the eyes. Sounds about as non-lethal as getting shot in the eye with a rubber bullet I guess.

If they ever uses this to torture people, I hope they develop cataracts as well. Then again you can't expect a grunt to not treat something like this as magic. Hmm maybe this is where the nickname for Guantanamo, Camp X-Ray, comes from.

Cfosspeed is a great little program for Windows XP+ that gives an incredible ammount of control over quality of service. It detects a large number of standard protocols (http,ftp,nntp,dns...) and can set priority on a per program basis for games, voip and p2p. I reccomend it especially if you have an ADSL connection prone to a high ping while downloading. You can setup cfosspeed to prioritize your connection for low ping or high bandwidth. Unfortunately it doesn't work as intended if you have multiple computers on a router because it shapes the traffic independent of other computers, but the developers are working to add multi computer support.

I've used it for almost 6 months and its given me the highest most stable download speeds I've ever seen on my DSL. My pings while downloading are almost as good as they can be. It's also very lean on CPU overhead.

here's the developers explanation on how it works

Since we're talking about written language the Japanese case would normaly represent each word with kanji not the phonetic alphabet or a combination of the two. If context is very obvious you might see phonetic only. The word might also be a homonym in spelling only, 'ikura' for example can mean both 'price' and 'salmon eggs' but the pronounciation is slightly different. Japanese has way more problems with the spoken language because there are many dialects which is one of the reasons why so many TV shows are subtitled.

The number of polys you can push is steadily becoming a non-issue though.

Blu-ray I'll give them but I don't expect them to be popular for a very long time.
