Also, there are products where you can use VS to develop Unity games, like UnityVS( http://unityvs.com/ ) which, at $100... Isn't precisely cheap, but considering what Visual Studio and Unity Pro costs, game development shops generally don't find too much of a problem paying it. Without that Unity leverages it's own editor for handling your build logic and debugging dependent on platform, which for Windows Store and Windows Phone apps, that ends up in Visual Studio, for Android apps it spits out an Android project or an APK depending on how you set it up, an Xcode project for iOS, etc...

That and it could make the cause even more lost than it ever was, I mean who would you rather listen to as John/Jane Q. Public, those that created an "industry" that's sole purpose is to entertain the public, or geeks, who understand how technology works, but not really how to meet the needs of people other than that. I mean, there is a large number IT people that are not too keen on how to communicate with people, in a language that they can understand. Which explains why most people that have computers now will buy them, and when those people need them fixed, they will have someone else do it. Some people just don't care how their tech works, just that the fact that it does, perhaps our lawmakers will change, if we can show the public how these laws can effect the ablility for their technological items to "work". This is the greater hope for the moment, because if we can get the majority on our side, then we can set things to the way they should be for our freedom, as opposed to the bank accounts of hollywood executives.

As opposed to just giving up, coding and hoping that the code that the community would write will still be legal at the ending of the projects. Although this is what happens in any system that is ruled by a majority, the majority can slam down whatever they want on the minority, without really bad consequences to them. So a better solution would be to make sure that it isn't just a small minority that is looking out for our interests, as well as publicly speaking, I would also suggest for those that can, to vote on the issues, or at least support canidates that oppose these kinds of laws. That and look at the responses to questions about cg here
