The RIAA is a recording industry group supporting any recording industry plays into the field they are strongest in. I 'steal' recorded music but $pay$ for live shows at least twice a month. (substantial for a pour student) Copy right laws were set in place to produce an inovative and productive industry. These same laws are now being used to gard against a form of inovation. When the system of the verry rich paying for musical production broke down in the late classic period there were technical shifts in bow types for string instruments so that music could be played in concert halls. Now the rich are loosing their abillity to fund music. Time to play some concerts.
We say something is safe if it does not push us over the brink of deminishing returns. If there is never a mistake, it seems these reacters would be safe, but what is the level of ecological damage at worst case senario. If worst case senario happens once every 100 years will this destroy the envirnment completely? What about every 300 years? The question is does the act of testing so totally f*ck your envinment that it is not worth it?

So what you are saying is that dispite the fact that you nor anyone else has any evidance one way or another to believe that there will be more 'diff' found in the future you still feel you should express you oppinion about it. You go from saying that a player is mearly 'solving someone else's computer-aided puzzle' to saying that 'It's just people seeking an outlet for otherwise desperate life-empty frustrations' and some how that is anti-individualism. What makes a person an individual is the way in which the face a problem or a situation not what problem or situation they face. Saying this is as much saying that a computer Scientest is less of an individual than a farmer because a computer scientest doesn't deal with 'real' world problems. (real is deffined as physical. This also asumes some things about the CS persons field of research). We can not all have fulfilling jobs some one must pump gas. I live in Lawrence Ks a city filled with the highly educated I have a friend who has a masters in Computer Engineering...she is substitute teaching and glad for the games life has to offer.

I have worked for telemarketing companies for over two years (I am a student in Lawrence Kansas, throw a rock and hit an out of work highly educated person) and I will say that this legisation (though I have not read through it) based on the breif view given to us by the article will be made useless by companies who will just call by surveys. And yes the company I work for does call 'do-not-call' people and we are told to hang up. Please kill me and get me out of this job. It's not pretty but it true.
This idea of pooled assets is only effective if the pool of assests is accessable to everyone on a fair baisis. Many insuriance companies don't save people money they just make sure one day of bad luck (lightning strike) doesn't kill the company. But this is not always true. Example: I worked at a computer repair location and most home owners insurance would only cover lighting strikes on computers if it could be positively known that it was lightning that did the damage and they wanted my company to sign off on the cause of damage. Of course we can't say that it was lightning so... "sorry mam it could have been your negligence that cause the damage so there's nothing we can do"
I do not think that video games cause violence. I think, and there is evedice supporting this, that violent people who play video games to quench that violent thirst become more violent that is where most people get confused.
No but what I think is being said is when hand held equipment can produce images that seem like you looking through a window then yes we will see much of what hollywood is now change.
I disagree I think that in this case I want to see the trailer becuase.... I know whats going to happen already but in most cases I would agree. The perfect trailer for me is the first of the "Hulk" trailers. doesn't divolge anything but still tasty

Remember capitalism sells what makes the most profit. Record companies probably think of how easily manipulated a person can be when choosing them. I would If I were them
Almost 100% of the profits that come form the Kansas lotto go to corprate welfare. Money they get that came out of a "pot" they did not put into. To go you one further much of this ends up in Texas companies.
