Is there something wrong with trusting one company more than another? I think it just means that google is doing something right that Microsoft is not.

The study mentioned in the link above is flawed. If your cat dies instantly from a fall off of your balcony, why would you bring it to a vet? So they can pronounce it?
`(a) CRIMINAL INFRINGEMENT- Any person who infringes a copyright willfully either--
(1) for purposes of commercial advantage or private financial gain, or
`(2) by the reproduction or distribution, including by electronic means, during any 180-day period, of 1 or more copies or phonorecords of 1 or more copyrighted works, which have a total retail value of more than $1,000,
Notice the first point says that you are punishable by the law if you get any private financial gain.
Above this, it defined financial gain:
`The term `financial gain' includes receipt, or expectation of receipt, of anything of value, including the receipt of other copyrighted works.'.
So, essentially, by trading anything of value, you are breaking this law.
IANAL etc etc etc. But I think that's what the author was getting at
This report has been prepared under the sole responsibility of the contractor (Unisys Management
Consulting Team).
Wasn't Unisys the ones that partnered with MS for the We Have the Way Out thing which advocated Windows over any UNIX? And now they're recommending Open Source software?
The only reason they are stopping OEMs from instlaling Win2k is so that big corporations who have all Windows 2000 computers will not be able to add any more and will have to begin the migration process to a newer, prettier OS.
One of the things people have been claiming to be a disadvantage to gnutella is now showing itself as an advantage. People cannot browse your file lists in gnutella and thus cannot see how many illegal files you are swapping. They only learn of what files you have when they do a specific search for them.
If ever there was a day that a big company should make a major decision that could put them under, this would be the day. They'd be off with their money before anyone was the wiser.
Midbar Tech's Noam Zur called copy-protection critics a fringe group that probably are pirates themselves.
So I guess we should all be outcast to the "fringes" since we have enough intelligence to figure out what they are actually doing.
I'm off to rip off the RIAA some more. This time I don't have to pay.
Does this affect @Home users in canada? I have heard from different people that it doesn't but I am skeptical. My ISP recently switched to its own server so i'm good.

I do. Though I don't use the PPC all that much, I do own them both.
Open up gconf-editor (its like registry editor) and browse to /desktop/gnome/interface and check the box beside "menus have tearoff".
Maybe you should RTFL.

The problem is they just work too well and nobody pays any attention.
:-)
I Guess we know why windows is so popular then
They are likely a big corporate linux distributer who doesn't want to be taken to court over it. Or their just stinkin rich.

For the 20GB NOMAD, that would add an extra $420. (21*20=420). Why not just buy a damn laptop. It's be cheaper.
Thank you ;)
Wasn't this what people were *COMPLAINING* about when windows xp was released. I seem to remember something about MS tracking installs with it.
It was a good idea, though.
