The software has already been tested with air traffic controllers.
This is a great place to test new software, isn't it? I wonder what the implications would be if the computer "guesses" wrong. Like what if the computer figured out that I am a screw-up, so it scheduled two planes to land on the same runway at once just to save me the trouble?
Independance Day is about on the same level as Starship Troopers or Mars Attacks! I don't think they expect suspension of disbelief, I think they expect us to laugh at how ridiculous it all is.
I find it very odd that a computer company (Apple) could be the driver being such a fundamental civil rights change. (aside: If artists can start to be compensated for their work, what's to stop us IT workers and software developers?)
The music industry is one area where the big corporation have been allowed to force people into contract that would violate labour laws if they were proposed in other sectors. We have been waiting with baited breath for technology to break down the barriers that have stopped artists from being freed, yet the technology companies themselves hove mostly worked with the RIAA to perpetuate this arrangement.
Bravo, Apple. I do understand that you are only interested in dollars like every other corporation, but you have shown that you do value creativeity and freedom as well, just like you keep telling us!
This will allow new artists to get some payback without having to sign a contract in the first place. The one deadlock that the RIAA has is on distribution, and without that many artists would never have to sign with a label at all.
As for artists that have already signed, well, they're screwed.
Personally, I sit at a computer desk for 10 hours a day
I think you should probably start right there. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy..." It also makes Jack fat. If you are working those kind of hours, it is going to be very difficult to feel like exercising when the day is done, and it is certain thtat the other inhabitants of the cube farm will never take well to someone doing pushup in the office.
If you have to work those long hours (i.e. you can't negotiate in your current job, or get another one), then get out for a long lunch and go to the gym. Or go for a walk. You will never find it easy to stay in shape when you spend 10 hours/day chained to the tube.
over RH9, the slownes in RH 9 was very noticable...
Yes, I have to concurr. although I also found RH8 to be much faster than RH8, RH9 literally crawls in comparison to RH9. I long for the good old days, when RH7 was just as fast as RH7. Vendor like Redhat need to make sure that they can maintain performance within any singel version...
If you were using RH7, it certainly would have been fast enough to capture that missing "s"...
is it just me, or are we slowly bing SCO'ed to death here on slashdot? let me get this straight off the bat:
SCO is publicly making a public ass of it ('s corporate) self.
there, it's been said. i don't need to say it again. if the subject comes up here around the water cooler, i may voice my opinion again to a new party, but really, i'm pretty confident that SCO has no legal grounds here (yes, IANAL, like most other slashdotters). this "me too"ism that is growing here is getting out of hand. how many people do we really need to tell us that darl and co. are raving?
i am sure that there are all kinds of interesting submissions that are being passed over in favour of SCO stuff, and most lilely because of volume, so please - i beg you: don't submit more SCO stories. pretty please? with sugar? unless something changes?
i'm done whining now (which is my right as a slashdotter). move along...
this really doesn't look that great to me. not near as nice as the blue ice mod. it's got too many cables, too many different materials - it looks like he sacrificed a lot just for the shape, and then he sacrificed some more to make ti transparent.
in the end, it just looks like a pc mod gone bad, but way more expensive.
Nope. Next question...
Was it the same guy?
the most important book ever to be written about the subject of comic books
This is probably the most biased review I've ever read.
Well, at least you said probably.

Until Hollywood is overrun by geeks...
Heaven help us!

I never bought it at all.
i just tried this site with safari - not good.
Building a Custom Kernel.
enjoy!
i tried several times to compile a kernel on redhat until i realized that they have changed things a bit, and you need to follow their docs.
you can bet that Dr. James will back him up...
That's it! SCO stole IBM's car, went back in time with linux source code, and used it to build Unix!
and Linux rides a skateboard and wears Calvin Klein undies!

you mean there is one MORE evil than Darl? I was thinking that's kinda like saying Sauron's evil twin brother.

Now, the main question is does it do ogg ?
It doesn't matter about ogg. Once it reads mail, then it is feature complete.

geez, i think i'm going to start to get a complex here 8-\
wooHOO!!! now we just need Ximian to make it purty!
This is "Ask Slashdot", you bonehead. Yes it _is_ an advise column.
"Oh, yeah. Right..."

i thought that they had already moved on.
