  1. Must be browser day on Mozilla 1.4 Released · · Score: 3, Funny

Earlier there was an article on netscape.... now one on mozilla.

That's too much browser info to digest in one day. Get some PS2 articles in here. ;)

  2. Why are version numbers so uneven on Netscape 7.1 Released · · Score: 2, Interesting

Netscape 7.1 for windows, linux, mac

Netscape 4.x for solaris, sgi and many other oses. Why is the numbering so whacked?

  3. The numbers game... on Working Hard? · · Score: 1

The math is simple. Before, 1 employee will vote for Bush. The other is unemployed and won't vote.

    Before: 1 employee $100, 1 unemployed $0

After this law passes, the newly employed will vote for bush, the previously $100 employee is pissed and won't vote.

    After: 2 employees $50 each
    lowered unemployment rate

But the unemployment rate is lower... that's killing 2 birds with the same stone.

  4. The Mcdonald analogy on Amazon Hacks For Fun and Money · · Score: 1, Interesting

Imagine mcdonald wanting to be a better franchise and hired annoying teenagers to cause problems in and outside the restaurant to see how they can improve.

Give amazon some credit, cause few businesses nowadays besides financial institutions would go the distance to improve themselves.

Now... if they can get rid of that Jeff Be...

I think I tried openoffice and corel word and a couple other alternatives myself. I need 1 solution that's monopolistically better than anything else on the plaform. Not 10 solutions that are the same.

  12. Argh! on P2P Meets Push · · Score: 0

The problem was never the software used.

The problem was the file-sharing concept. It was the concept that RIAA and the rest of the legal industry hated. The software can be written in C, C++, C#, java, assembly... it makes no difference in the battle.

  15. This is bad news for the storage world on Available To The Right Buyer: Sun Microsystems · · Score: 0

This article is a nightmare to the storage world. No other unix boxes in my experiences has delivered more reliable data I/O bandwidth. Seriously, X86 processors may fly by the $$$, but any mission critical jobs are better left for unix machines.

IBM hardware is good, but their software is overly complicated. Linux hardware is just no reliable on x86, but their software is ok for the storage world. M$ has great software, but x86 architecture doesn't cut it. The list goes on.

The only company with the real median was sun. The Enterprise systems have excellent bandwidth all around. Good for SAN, backups... you name it. Without sun, veritas, legato and a host of other storage companies will take five steps back.

  17. There has to be room for computer club!!! on Starting an After-School Computer Club? · · Score: 0

Here are some clubs and activities in my highschool after the usual school hours...

1.) Environmental club - after school, you go around collecting recycling bins. Except you get to talk about oil-poisoned sea gulls when you are done collecting trash like a janitor.

2.) Newspaper club - Face it. No one reads highschool newspapers. It's shit going back to the recycle bin.

3.) Drivers Ed - This is always taught by some monotone guy with the worst driver's record. Where's the bloody videos?

4.) Math club - Two hours after school + Your daily school hours = too much time in a classroom.

5.) Drama club - You might be Tom cruise, but on stage..... You will always be surrounded 95% by testosterone charged teenagers who will f*** up your show.

6.) Bowling club - We have this every year. I see the sign up sheet. There is no bus to a real bowling ally. There is no facility in my highschool? Rolling over cans with a kickball in the cafeteria doesn't count!!!

  18. Lakers vs Celtics on Licensing Likenesses For Sports Games · · Score: 0

I remember reading an article way back about Michael Jordan mis-interpreted in the game of lakers vs celtics for sega genesis.

In the game, all players were granted special moves, Jordan's special included an air reverse move... no dunks. A couple more basketball games were made with the special moves.

But these were partial reasons why Jordan insisted on being left out of the game in replacement of a mystery #99 figure on chicago bulls.

Ever try putting Linux on a SAN and put oracle on it. If you have worked with solaris and windows, you'd know that these two are a walk in the park compared to linux. Everything ranging from bad incompatible JDK versions of oracle, to absolutely bs kernel compiling to get an HBA working with a SAN. Seriously, linux does not play well with ANY real corporate toys the like of NetAPP, EMC, HDS, Oracle... the list goes on. Linux is hobbiest linux, fun but definitely not mission critical.

I think the kernel is too clumsy for HBA vendors to pull this one off successfully. 3.) Better Games. A game doesn't come to the linux world until it has sold 10 million copies on windows first. 4.) An easy to learn visual programming tool. How come I can learn MS vb and vc++ in hours, but all linux tools are so poorly designed and nonintuitive. 5.) Better compatibility with oracle. Ever try installing oracle on linux?! OMG, they have a lot to learn from sun here.
