I am surprised they haven't offered a web OS type deal. Kind of a free office appz over the web if you will.
They already have google mail, that's a quarter of the web office suite. How hard would it be to offer a java based office suite freely available over the web that's compatible with everything M$.
I can see people are sympathetic for Apple. But they are locking themselves in a corner again. Remember, that's how Apple lost the OS wars 20 years ago since it didn't want to play nice with M$ or anybody.
Just because you made the initial investment, doesn't mean you are the beneficiary of it forever. That's not how business works, that's definitely not how corporations work. I seriously don't think Steve Jobs know that.
Hey Rhapsody already has music videos as part of the service. Maybe Rhapsody should do a TV service now with a monster database of every show ever existed.
Well they are putting more emphasis on the graphics card reviews now. That's the part most vulnerable. Cheap fans, overclocking, high heat, driver problems..... you name it.
Out of all the os, it's crazy that you picked solaris and windows as the posterchild for retaining binary compatibility.
If there is a rpm with no dependencies, it will run on any linux version. For solaris, there would have been a sol8,sol9,sol10 version. For windows, there would have been a XP,2000 version. You might have meant dependencies instead of binary compatibility.
That's why they bought out the NFL so no one else can make a football game. Their product blows, and even they know the competition will eventually eat them alive if they don't do something now.
BTW EA expansion in the US has hit a brick wall. I have relatives from Vancouver CA who worship them. Quite frankly they don't have a fucking clue about gaming or sports. They buy whatever is marketed to them. Fuck EA.
Last time volume managers and raidtabs came out for linux, the market quickly flooded with too many mediocre flavors. I expect multipathing software to do the exact same.
Why does MIT always take full credit? There is at least a dozen organizations that contributed to the pre-research heading to this. Just look at the pdf if you don't believe.
PSP could use a 2D megahit Castlevania game right about now. GTA PSP is around the corner. Also Katamari is from Namco, that's 3rd party.
The question is more like WHERE? Where in the world do you store all this tracking info.

I was laughing till I puked food all over my damn keyboard and monitor. Now I know better to not eat infront of slashdot.
That's the problem. There is no formula that calculates where the foam comes off by itself. Oh that X factor.
Half the time the problem is actually not the database software itself. It's the hardware and storage.
- At the least stripe the volumes across multiple disks.
- The system should have the virtual memory partition/swap on a separate disk alone. If not controller.
- SCSI drives are notorius for utililizing less resources.
- Run the database on raw device, not on some filesystem.
These statistics came from the summer time technically. Wait till september when people go back to school etc.
Actually this is greatly exaggerated. The MOST google will show is a link straight to iTunes at the google frontpage. That's it. Just a link!
Web Images Groups News Froogle Local
Ready?.... It'll have probably a Music link. If it has anymore than that, people wouldn't make it a frontpage.

This is the part I am confused about. Is Intel technically the crown king again in performance?
They got to take the best AMD64 has to offer and match it overclocking just like this one.
What's really funny is, you'd call your fellow slashdotters "retarded asswipes". But it's not ok for him/her to call Microsoft "MS".
Unfortunately the judgement is based on $$$.
What do you mean? The market is entirely based on game-looks, not game-play.
People were disappointed with Doom 3's ultra shallow gameplay, but you won't find out till 3 weeks after you bought that eye candy.
Now that is a mighty good post. That's +99 mod for being mad insightful...
Here's a list of classic games that don't have enough remixers... cause all the effort is wasted on the final fantasy/megaman series.
Revenge of Shinobi
Gaiares
RC Pro am
Zillion
Shinobi 3
Thunderforce series

I have nothing against their proprietory OS.
But until I see IBM get rid of Aix, Novell get rid of Netware, HP get rid of Hpux... they are all BANDWAGONERS.
Last I check, people ask if a console can be hacked to run linux, web browsers, DVR, jukebox etc.
You make it sound like people don't want to "exploit" these consoles. And that people are happy to be locked in. This is where Sony is more loose.
This company just like to sell 5 different versions of everything to you. After all M$ marketing guys need to keep themselves employed.

In other news funeral home profits are rising in Korea due to the death of so many gamers.
