Sony is well known for deliving exactly just enough of whatever the suppliers ask. That's why there is such a ridiculous supply/demand problem. Europe and UK probably won't see it until it is a guaranteed success in the US after Japan. Sigh...
Why buy the patent when you are already hiring the most expensive lawyers in the country. They could help you win anything and everything in a legal system that revolves around money. Which M$ obviously has plenty of.
M$ strategy ------------ 1.) Send lawyer and drag case out for 5 years till the technology doesn't matter
2.) Send lawyer and drag case out for 5 years till the opposition can't afford their lawyers anymore.
I give M$ alot of credit for trying hard. But what they are doing is nothing new. Sony has always acquired creative minds in the industry. They do it so often, they make no public announcement about it.
If M$ really want to really hog up the video game space, they need to buy companies out with exclusivity. Go buy Capcom, Rockstar, SquareEnix.
Learn from the EA/Ubisoft ownership problem. You might have stake in the company or have a few famous architects working for you. But unless you claim that company yours entirely, you don't have 100% control.
When Adobe came out with Photoshop 1, it was superior to everything else in the market. Seriously in today's market, Paintshop Pro is better in everyway, especially PRICE.
Photoshop was so expensive, they had to release a light version and Illustrator to stay in the market.
That is one of the best and worst problem for WPI. They try hard to change with the times and turn corners with new courses etc. When the internet was booming, WPI had an insane amount of content change in the courses.
The problem however is the loyalty to the professors. The academic has got to realize soon that not all professors can teach everything. Your course change, so should the professors.
Unlike most companies who just gave up the fight after the.com and cashed out. I give Yahoo and Google alot of credit for continuing to compete even to this day.
Man you nailed it right on. It took awhile for American companies to catch on. Japan is no longer the superior RPG factory.
The ONLY RPG I am interested in 2005 from Japan is the Phantasy Star 1,2,4 remake on PS2. And that's sad.
Square needs to create a chronotrigger type RPG with Final Fantasy where you go in and out of FF1 to FFX in a single game. You can only ride chocobos so many times before you get bored.
P..Please! Nintendo is seeing major handheld competition for the first time ever. 500 GBA titles is not going to compete with PSP. 500 DS titles might.
Mario Kart is not going to out do Gran Turismo. All it takes is a 2D castlevania SOTN wannabe, a Metal Gear Acid, Tekken, Final Fantasy... and Sony will start winning the market.
Atari lynx was a joke given the size. Sega GameGear released when Sega was already on a downhill. This is the 1st time Nintendo is up against a company in its peak with a winning console system backing.
People who think a battery shortage is going to prevent Sony is on crack. Ask iPod owners how fast the battery die with a $99 replacement option. And that's still selling like hot cakes. Console and handheld battles were never about hardware.
I am not complaining about the display. I am complaining about the fact that I pay twice.
For example:
If a new album comes out, the best songs are immediately marked "BUY ONLY". I can only stream 30 seconds of the best songs even though I am a subscriber. Why don't I just ditch Napster and buy the new album?! Screw the subscription and I pay once.
Knowing Xbox had the shortest life cycle in the history of any successful console. I'd say Xbox2 will be in the market for almost 2 years before Xbox3 arrives.
Another words you get a way better bang for your buck with PS3. Yes, I too agree Xbox will probably never win in Japan.
This all depends. If the manager is leading the pack and ask "Why can't we..." and the question is stupid. And the answer is blatantly obvious. It's a sign that this person shouldn't be making decisions for you.
If it wasn't for the sky rocket real estate prices, U.S would be fine.
You can live in alot of different countries in the world and still enjoy U.S entertainment.
Well I'd rather watch an episode nonstop, with all the characters wearing pepsi shirt, coca cola jeans.
To stop your show every 5 minutes with a commercial is an old concept started in the 60s. About damn time we change.
The original poster is not offtopic at all.

Well there are some new ratings coming out next year...
GWBB - Games with Big Breast - Ex: Tomb Raider
FLTT - Foul Language Trash Talking - Ex: Duke Nukem
LVFA - Loud Volume From Aliens - Ex: Doom 3
TEAA - Time Eating And Addictive - Ex: Anything
That whole monthly subscription thing on Norton Antivirus is overrated. You can always manually download the updates instead of doing "Live-Update".
Wait a sec, IBM sits in both camps. They believe in expensive lucrative technology as well as a future in services.
Ah you beat me to it. China is up there on the corruption index list every year. Not as high as like Bangladesh, but it's up there.
I can't get to your link since it's registration problems. But that should be immediate death penalty no matter how drunk or mentally ill you are.

LOOK at the Japanese! They play video games to the most insane degree, and they have the lowest crime rate in the world.
Are we Americans this stupid. Blame the parent first, school second, the kid third. Don't even put video game in the same list.

Many advertise U.S as the "Land of Opportunity".
No one advertise U.S as "Land of Happiness"
It's shamed this guy posted as Anonymous Coward. This was absolutely one of the best and HONEST post I have ever come across.

I prefer the combination of powerhouse PC + iPod. The dock can be purchased as a separate accessory anyways.

While that sounds funny, I have found more solutions to technical problems from /. than anywhere else on the planet.
Especially software recommendations, which I can't get enough of. Seems like someone dig something good up everyday.

DON'T even mention napster. I tried it out. So far I am confused as to why half the stuff are marked "BUY ONLY".
Why the hell would I sign up for a premium subscription service to stream only to find half the stuff requiring me to pay $.99 again?
Is there any streaming service that doesn't have this "BUY ONLY" problem.

Yeah rewind 5 more years before that. I used to tell people I run Linux. People say "run to where?"
