I'd been trying to tell people the Phantom is the biggest vaporware myth in video game history.
I have issues of video game magazines back from 1991 claiming Phantom will multi-link NES, genesis, SNES etc. Same news appeared in 1997 or so with PS1 and Saturn. Now the latest scam in 2004 for pc games with 7.1 Dolby Digital sound.
Infinium Labs and this Phantom console, without a shadow of a doubt, is the SCO of the video game world. They just rack up marketers, lawyers and con artists and trick investors for money.
Speaking of windows, I'd like to see the same research done for OS. I know a huge portion of employees at SUN use windows. I wonder if any employees at M$ use solaris or linux.
I look at the redhat enterprise series, and there was 5 major updates for Redhat Advanced Server 2.1. Now if the goal was to appeal to the corporate world with a less changing and more stable version, then 5 updates in 1 year clearly contradicts that. That's not even counting Advanced Server 3.0 updates. Let's face it, Mandrake and Redhat. You need CA$H desperately.
It's never an easy battle going up against a technical company. RIAA, being mostly lawyers going up against Charter with a legit group of engineers is not going to work. Just TCP/IP alone can spawn a million different ways to prove or disprove a case.
Fuck yeah, that's what I am talking about. The kid knew it was fucked up enough to point that shit out. Anyways here is the top portion of the game credits...
Executive Producer: Richard Head Software Director: Oliver Clothesoff Marketing Director: Rob Midildo Lead Engineer: Cy Weezeformilk Lead Artist: Dean Biggins
They say it's MMORPG which is just RPG with a subscription fee. Anyways if this game pans out the way it's supposed to (unlike some other matrix games... Enter the Matrix cough cough) I am there.
I find it genetically impossible that girls are created to NOT like video games. No way in hell, any genes can be responsible for that. They are just not coming out. Which is ashame.
College is OVER-RATED. There is no reason why the undergrad experience needs to be more than 2 years for 90% of the majors out there. MBAs, masters and writing thesis is even more of a joke. You mean I need to spend my time and money to contribute to the professor's research?!
Before you flame me, ask yourself if some of the best people you ever worked with have a degree or was even a grad student etc. Unless you plan to have a career in scientific research, a $30000 a year college education is a complete waste. My CS/MIS degree is not worth that kind of cash. And I went to a well known good technical school.
No need to get disappointed. That's the concept of OEM. They always just slap a new label on it. Do you think Dell does anything beside slapping their name on the product!? M$ would be stupid to fiddle with any code.
Omg that was the greatest game. I didn't own a computer until I was much older. But I always went over people's house to kill buffalos in Oregon Trail. The best is when you set them on this ridiculous campaign to starve and get diseases. You race to see who wipes out the party the fastest.
Well I can't imagine marines playing Call of Duty or some fps with real rifle shooting sound. That's got to cause real havoc in a military base. "Oh sorry sir. It was the PC saying Enemy Spotted."
It went wrong when the biggest players in the market can sell lemon to the consumers and get away with it. Think of how many versions of M$ windows are unusable before a service pack 2 or 3.
Imagine buying a car and it doesn't work until 6 months later when your manufacturer has a recall for you. Commercial hi-tech industry seriously need a good role model.
Boy, I think this is the only post we need for all windows vpn solution. That site is the single most organized windows tutorial site I have ever seen in my life. And trust me, I have seen quite a number.
No... Just the lack of good "Hollywood" films. There are plenty of underground distributions that make real films with real plots, genuine characters and not the abused special effects.
People who put money in the theatres for that big-screen experience is what killed the creative process. Hollywood producers realized they can make 10x more when they fund a Starwars robot than a real screenplay. So of course they love selling you explosive jet crashing repetitive garbage.
College degree is NOT nearly as important as you think. As I have a number of relatives working in HR. It depends on the industry.
The financial industry typically want a person from a good school, with or without degree. Their preferred candidates are people who can play within a system without out-smarting it. They don't want you too stupid or too financially innovative. A failed harvard grad is preferred over a A+ student from a community college.
The Hi-tech industry don't need a degree that bad. It's smoke screen excuse for them to say they don't want you. The truth be told, work experience is #1 here.
The medical industry is the only place that requires a degree to my knowledge.
You people give Bill Gates alot of credit. He was not single-handed responsible for the concept of monopoly. Read up on Rockafeller (pardon spelling) from way back.
Anyways, EA also tried to buy the NBA despite the massive complaints by so many people. David Stern literally told the EA lawyers to go to hell.
Expect PS3 sports games from EA to look identical to PS2. They have no need to work harder on a new engine. Who cares, there won't be another game in the market for the next 5 years.
While I hate most publishers, you have to see it from their perspective. After game ABC comes out for windows, they have a choice.
A choice of requesting a linux port of game ABC or using the same development resources on a new game. Hmm... let me see. 90% of the publishers would rather sell something new.
Quite frankly developers like to move on, and not work on the same projects for eternity. Until linux has some special directX alternative and become the #1 go-to gaming OS, this is going no where.

I am beginning to worry the slashdot crowd is filled with too many one-sided Google fanboys who refuse to try a new direction.

Fair management expectations
+ Well allocated budget
- Patch fixing firedrills

+ free donuts
= success

What about the animals that couldn't leave the house. They must be horrified to know something bad is coming and are trapped in their own house.
Omg I am laughing so hard, I am in tears.
College is OVER-RATED. There is no reason why the undergrad experience needs to be more than 2 years for 90% of the majors out there. MBAs, masters and writing thesis is even more of a joke. You mean I need to spend my time and money to contribute to the professor's research?!

I learned all my German from Wolfenstein.
Shneil. Shneil.
Danke.

That's not that important.
If this thing was made elsewhere. Will this Portable Media Player (PMP) be globally ready?
Making it a Portable Media Internationalized Player (PIMP).
I am still waiting for the Wi-Fi invasion where it's me and my buddies versus 1000 Wi-Fi monsters.

Opportunity knocks on people's door in the most bizarre way. Yesterday they are just some university radio folks, today they are globally recognized.
