  1. It's a scam on HardOCP Declares Win vs. Infinium Labs · · Score: -1, Troll

I'd been trying to tell people the Phantom is the biggest vaporware myth in video game history.

I have issues of video game magazines back from 1991 claiming Phantom will multi-link NES, genesis, SNES etc. Same news appeared in 1997 or so with PS1 and Saturn. Now the latest scam in 2004 for pc games with 7.1 Dolby Digital sound.

Infinium Labs and this Phantom console, without a shadow of a doubt, is the SCO of the video game world. They just rack up marketers, lawyers and con artists and trick investors for money.

I look at the redhat enterprise series, and there was 5 major updates for Redhat Advanced Server 2.1. Now if the goal was to appeal to the corporate world with a less changing and more stable version, then 5 updates in 1 year clearly contradicts that. That's not even counting Advanced Server 3.0 updates. Let's face it, Mandrake and Redhat. You need CA$H desperately.

College is OVER-RATED. There is no reason why the undergrad experience needs to be more than 2 years for 90% of the majors out there. MBAs, masters and writing thesis is even more of a joke. You mean I need to spend my time and money to contribute to the professor's research?!

Before you flame me, ask yourself if some of the best people you ever worked with have a degree or was even a grad student etc. Unless you plan to have a career in scientific research, a $30000 a year college education is a complete waste. My CS/MIS degree is not worth that kind of cash. And I went to a well known good technical school.

No... Just the lack of good "Hollywood" films. There are plenty of underground distributions that make real films with real plots, genuine characters and not the abused special effects.

People who put money in the theatres for that big-screen experience is what killed the creative process. Hollywood producers realized they can make 10x more when they fund a Starwars robot than a real screenplay. So of course they love selling you explosive jet crashing repetitive garbage.

  22. Re:I hate college on Defining Google · · Score: 1

College degree is NOT nearly as important as you think. As I have a number of relatives working in HR. It depends on the industry.

The financial industry typically want a person from a good school, with or without degree. Their preferred candidates are people who can play within a system without out-smarting it. They don't want you too stupid or too financially innovative. A failed harvard grad is preferred over a A+ student from a community college.

The Hi-tech industry don't need a degree that bad. It's smoke screen excuse for them to say they don't want you. The truth be told, work experience is #1 here.

The medical industry is the only place that requires a degree to my knowledge.

A choice of requesting a linux port of game ABC or using the same development resources on a new game. Hmm... let me see. 90% of the publishers would rather sell something new.

Quite frankly developers like to move on, and not work on the same projects for eternity. Until linux has some special directX alternative and become the #1 go-to gaming OS, this is going no where.
